General characteristics. Structure:
Active agent: Sulfacetamidum natricum sodium - 200 mg; excipients: Natrium thiosulfuricum - 1,5 mg, 1 M Acidum hydrochloricum solution - to рН from 7,7 to 8,7, water for injections - to 1 ml.
Pharmacological properties:
Antimicrobic bacteriostatic means, streptocide. The mechanism of action is caused by competitive antagonism with paraaminobenzoic acid (PABK), oppression of a digidropteroatsintetaza, disturbance of synthesis of the tetrahydrofolic acid necessary for synthesis of purines and pyrimidines. It is active concerning gram-positive and gram-negative cocci, Escherichia coli, Shigella spp., Vibrio cholerae, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Yersinia pestis, Chlamydia spp., Actinomyces israelii, Toxoplasma gondii.
Pharmacokinetics. Gets into fabrics and liquids of an eye. It is soaked up in a system blood stream through the inflamed conjunctiva. At topical administration the maximum concentration of streptocides in a cornea (about 3 mg/ml), moisture of an anterior chamber (about 0,5 mg/ml) and an iris (about 0,1 mg/ml) is reached in the first 30 min. after application. A quantity (less than 0,5 mg/ml) remains in eyeglobe fabrics during 3-4 h. At damage of an epithelium of a cornea the penetration of streptocides amplifies.
Indications to use:
Conjunctivitis, blepharitis, purulent helcoma, prevention and treatment of a blennorea at newborns, gonorrheal and Chlamidia diseases of eyes at adults.
Route of administration and doses:
Locally, dig in 1-2 drops in each conjunctival sac of 4-6 times a day. For prevention of a blennorea at newborns - on 2 drops in each conjunctival sac directly after the birth and on 2 drops - in 2 h.
Features of use:
The patients having hypersensitivity to furosemide, thiazide diuretics, sulphonylurea or inhibitors of a karboangidraza can have hypersensitivity to Sulfacetamidum natricum.
Side effects:
Burning, dacryagogue, gripes, itch in eyes, allergic reactions.
Interaction with other medicines:
Combined use with Procainum and pantocain reduces bacteriostatic effect. It is incompatible with silver salts.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity.
Use at pregnancy Is possible use of Sulfacetamidum natricum for treatment of pregnant women and nursing mothers to destination of the attending physician if the estimated advantage for mother exceeds potential risk for a fruit and the child.
Storage conditions:
In the place protected from light, at a temperature from 15 to 25 °C. To store in the places unavailable to children.
Period of validity 2 years. After opening of a bottle to use within 1 month. Not to use after the period of validity specified on packaging.
