Gelusil

General characteristics. Structure:

Suspension for intake of 1 ml 1 pack ice.
Active agent: симальдрат * (magnesium-aluminum-silicate in the form of hydrate) 172 mg 2.064 g 

Gelusil varnish
Active agent: симальдрат (aluminum-magnesium silicate in the form of hydrate) 500 mg

Excipients: powdered milk, sucrose, magnesium stearate, fragrance vanilla 39774, lactoses monohydrate, vanilla tincture.

Pharmacological properties:

Antiacid drug. Neutralizes excess of hydrochloric acid in a stomach, has the enveloping and adsorbing effect. Prevents influence of aggressive factors on a mucous membrane of a stomach and a duodenum, has anti-toxic properties. Does not cause secondary hypersecretion and does not influence motility of a GIT.

Pharmacokinetics. Data on pharmacokinetics of drug are not provided.

Indications to use:

— acute gastritis with the increased and normal secretion;
— chronic gastritis with the increased and normal secretion in an aggravation phase;
— acute duodenitis;
— a peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum in an aggravation phase;
— hernia of an esophageal opening of a diaphragm;
— reflux esophagitis;
— discomfort or pains in epigastriums, heartburn, an acid eructation after excess alcohol intake, nicotine, coffee, reception of medicines, errors in a diet.

Route of administration and doses:

Drug is appointed inside on 1 tablets or on 1 bag of suspension of 3-6 times/days.

Tablets are chewed or rassasyvat in 1 h after meal.

Suspension for intake is accepted in 1-2 h after meal and before going to bed.
In need of incidental use (at discomfort after errors in a diet) take 1 pill or 1 bag of suspension once.

Features of use:

At patients with renal failures at Gelusil's appointment it is regularly necessary to control the content of magnesium in blood serum and to avoid prolonged use in high doses.
At use of drug together with juice from a citrus (especially grapefruit) the probability of development of a gipermagniyemiya increases.
The interval between Gelusil's reception and other medicines has to make not less than 2 h.
Use in pediatrics
It is not recommended to appoint drug to children aged up to 10 years.

Side effects:

From the alimentary system: seldom - nausea, vomiting, a lock, diarrhea, change of flavoring feelings.
From an urinary system: at prolonged use in high doses - a hypercalcuria, a nephrocalcinosis, a renal failure.
From a metabolism: at prolonged use in high doses - a gipermagniyemiya, a hypocalcemia, a hypercalcuria, a giperalyuminiyemiya.
Others: seldom - allergic reactions; at prolonged use in high doses - osteomalacy, osteoporosis, encephalopathy.

Interaction with other medicines:

At a concomitant use Gelusil reduces absorption of tetracyclines, propranolol, an isoniazid, iron preparations, indometacin, salicylates.

Contraindications:

— the expressed renal failures;
— hypersensitivity to drug.

Use of drug GELUSIL at pregnancy and feeding by a breast
Use of drug at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation (breastfeeding) is not recommended.

Use at renal failures
Drug is contraindicated at the expressed renal failures.
At patients with renal failures at Gelusil's appointment it is regularly necessary to control the content of magnesium in blood serum and to avoid prolonged use in high doses.

Storage conditions:

Drug in the form of tablets should be stored in the place, unavailable to children, protected from light and moisture at a temperature from 15 °C to 25 °C.
