General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 300 mg of iron of a gluconate.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Iron is an important component of a human body. It is a part of hemoglobin, a myoglobin and various other enzymes. Iron stimulates function of the hemopoietic bodies. The gluconate of iron promotes bystry recovery of hemoglobin at patients with iron deficiency anemias.

The gluconate of iron is better soaked up and acquired, than other forms of iron that it is connected with its low ionization constant. It does not besiege a squirrel, does not break proteolytic activity of the alimentary system and does not make sick, gastric spasms, a lock or diarrhea most of patients.

Pharmacokinetics. Iron is soaked up preferential in a duodenum and an upper part of a jejunum. Gland a gluconate is soaked up easier, than salts of iron of an inorganic origin. Absorption takes place the more intensively, than vyrazhenny deficit of iron in an organism. At high content in food of calcium, phosphorus, phytic acid, secretory insufficiency of a stomach absorption of iron is limited. In blood iron contacts protein transferrin and in the form of a ferrotransferrin is brought to depot — marrow, a liver, a spleen where it is postponed in the form of ferritin and hemosiderin. Iron preferential with urine and is removed then, partially emitted with a mucous membrane of a digestive tract.

Indications to use:

Prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemias.

Route of administration and doses:

Accept inside, after food. Appoint the adult with the preventive purpose — 2 tablets a day; for treatment of an iron deficiency anemia — on 4 — 6 tablets a day.

To children at the age of 6 — 12 years appoint 1 — 3 tablet a day (prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemias).

Features of use:

Iron preparations should be stored out of reach of children in order to avoid accidental poisoning with iron.

In order to avoid irritation of digestive tract it is recommended to accept ferronat after food.

Precautionary measures. The patient with a round ulcer, enteritis, ulcer colitis ferronat it is necessary to appoint with extra care.

Iron preparations paint kcal in dark color and can sometimes mask the concealed hemorrhage.

Side effects:

At oral administration frustration from digestive tract (a lock, diarrhea, vomiting) are possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Eggs, tea and milk inhibit, and antiacid means worsen iron absorption. Peroral iron preparations break absorption of antibiotics of group of tetracycline. Between purpose of these medicines it is necessary to observe an interval not less than 2 hours.

Contraindications:

Idiosyncrasy to iron preparations, hemochromatosis, a hemosiderosis, hemolitic anemia.

Overdose:

Symptoms: an abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, a lock, gastrointestinal irritation (up to a necrosis), a lethargy, a low pulse, hypotonia, a metabolic acidosis, spasms, fever, a leukocytosis, a coma, the lethal outcome during 12 — 24 h, acute renal and hepatic necroses — in 2 — 4 days is possible.

Treatment: induction of vomiting (ipecacuanha syrup), parenteral administration of Deferoxaminum (in case of a serious poisoning — intravenously).
