The Multiformny glioblastoma (English abbr. GBM known also as an astrocytoma of the 4th degree) is the most common and aggressive form of primary tumor of a brain.
Symptoms of the Multiformny glioblastoma:
As a rule, the glioblastoma develops at patients at the age of 45-70 years. Symptoms can differ depending on localization and the size of a tumor. The most common symptoms are disturbances of memory, the speech, the neurologic frustration resulting from the tumor pressure upon a frontal or temporal lobe of a brain.
Other possible symptoms of a multiformny glioblastoma:
* Nausea and vomiting
* Paroxysm (convulsions)
* A hemiparesis – weakness of one side of a body
Reasons of the Multiformny glioblastoma:
This type of a tumor belongs to subgroup of astrocytic gliomas and develops in star-shaped glial cells of a head or spinal cord (astrocytomas of a brain meet more often than back). Glioblastoma can result or transformations of a benign tumor (cyst) in malignant or as a single-step malignant new growth. In all cases it is about very aggressive and quickly developing cancer form.
Treatment of the Multiformny glioblastoma:
Tumors of a brain will respond to treatment worse, than other types of cancer. Cells of a brain are more subject to risk of damage to process of traditional treatment, and also have limited ability of self-recovery.
As a rule, at treatment of this type of cancer the chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgical methods is applied. At the same time, it is recommended to address to many patients, in addition to the standard methods of treatment, the innovative techniques which are at stages of clinical trial recently. Participation in clinical trials gives to the patient the chance to try experimental drugs, among which drugs which stimulate a biological response of an organism after radiation therapy.
