Adenoides (Latin adenoides, from other - Greek ἀδήν — gland and — a look; Xing.: adenoid vegetations, adenoid vegetations) — patholologically the increased pharyngeal (nasopharyngeal) almond causing difficulty of nasal breath, decrease in hearing and other frustration. Vegetations of an almond are caused by a hyperplasia of its adenoid tissue.

Adenoiditis — an inflammation patholologically corrupted (giperplazirovanny, hypertrophied) a pharyngeal (nasopharyngeal) almond (adenoides). Can meet separately or in combination with an inflammation of the increased palatine tonsils. The adenoiditis can be acute, subacute or chronic.
The adenoiditis is shown by temperature increase and sharp disturbance of nasal breath.
Symptoms: difficulty of nasal breath begins. At first only at night (puffing, snore), and then and in the afternoon. Also morning cough is observed (it can be the only symptom at a subacute adenoiditis). Also at a slow adenoiditis perhaps gradual decrease in hearing.

The pharyngeal almond is located in the arch of a nasopharynx and is a part of a lymphadenoid pharyngeal ring (together with lingual, pipe and palatine tonsils). At usual survey of a throat of this almond it is not visible, for its observation special LOR-tools are required.
Adenoid vegetations are eurysynusic at children and are most often observed aged from 3 up to 7 years. Development of adenoides is promoted by the diseases causing an inflammation of a mucous membrane of a nasal cavity and almonds (measles, scarlet fever, flu, acute and chronic inflammatory diseases of upper respiratory tracts, etc.).

Adenoides 1 and 2 degrees, an adenoiditis are treated conservatively (antiedematous and antiinflammatory drugs, washing of a nose by solutions of antiseptic agents, slime suction, laser therapy, ozonotherapy).
