Nasopharynx tumors

Description:

Malignant tumors of a throat in structure of oncological diseases make about 3%. About 50% of these tumors are localized in a nasopharynx. About 85% of malignant tumors of a nasopharynx of an epithelial origin, 7% make lymphoma. Nasopharynx cancer arises at young people more often. Men are ill 3-4 times more often than women.

Reasons of tumors of a nasopharynx:

Factors which lead to developing of cancer of nasopharynx, are studied insufficiently. At patients with cancer of a nasopharynx often reveal a high antiserum capacity to a gerpesovidny virus Epstein - Barre, in particular, of Hb-A.

Symptoms of tumors of a nasopharynx:

Symptoms depend on options of an invasion of the next bodies. Cancer of a nasopharynx can extend on a throat wall with capture of a soft palate down, at the same time the act of swallowing is at a loss, there is a hoarseness of a voice, cough. At 30% of patients the tumor burgeons in a nasal cavity, causing allocations from a nose, a rhinolalia, difficulty of breath through a nose. When developing a tumor in side departments passability of an acoustical (eustachian) pipe is broken, hearing goes down. At spread of a tumor to head cavities there are headaches, a diplopia, loss of sight and other symptoms.

Treatment of tumors of a nasopharynx:

Owing to complex anatomo-topographical relationship of a nasopharynx surgical treatment is practically not carried out. The main method of treatment is telegamma therapy on area of a nasopharynx and a zone of regional innidiation. On primary center the total dose makes to 70gr, on lymph nodes of a neck - 40-45gr.

Good results receive at use himio-and radiation therapy. Use schemes of polychemotherapy which basis is the combination of a 5-ftoruratsil, Cyclophosphanum, drugs of platinum, adriamycin.

Forecast. At malignant tumors of a nasopharynx the forecast adverse. Five-year survival makes 40% at patients who had no metastasises in lymph nodes. At patients with damage of regional lymph nodes 5-year survival is observed at 20% of patients.
