SCARLET EXTRACT (ALOËS EXTRACTUM)

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: water extract from fresh leaves of an aloe treelike (Aloë arborescens Mill.) with addition of 0,85% of sodium of chloride.

Main physical and chemical properties: liquid from light yellow till yellowy-brown color, with a specific smell; in drug existence of the suspension, at storage which is dropping out in a deposit which when stirring ampoules passes into a uniform suspension is allowed.

Pharmacological properties:

Stimulates a metabolism, accelerates processes of an angenesis.

Indications to use:

The progressing short-sightedness, miopichesky chorioretinitis, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, iritis, opacity of the vitreous body, and also peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum.

Route of administration and doses:

In the presence of a deposit to stir up an ampoule before opening before formation of a uniform suspension. Aloes enter extract subcutaneously: the adult – on  1 ml 2 times a day (the maximum daily dose makes 3-4 ml); to children from 3 to 5 years - 0,2-0,3 ml of 1 times a day, are more senior than 5 years - 0,5 ml of 1 times a day. A course of treatment - 30-50 injections. Repeated courses are conducted after two - a three-months break.

Features of use:

At painful injections enter previously 0,5 ml of 2% of solution of novocaine.

Side effects:

Temperature increase, skin allergic rashes are possible.

Contraindications:

Serious cardiovascular illness, arterial hypertension, pregnancy, lactation period, acute gastrointestinal frustration, renal failure.
