Kombigripp ointment

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredients: 5 g of menthol, 10 g of camphor, 1 g of methyl-isopropyl phenol, 5 g of methyl salicylate, 1 g of oil of eucalyptus, 3 g of oil terpentinovy.

Excipients: beeswax, vaseline medical.

The ointment having the local irritating and antiinflammatory effect at catarrhal diseases, and also applied to grinding of joints at inflammatory diseases.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Menthol shows local irritative, analgeziruyushchy, distracting, antipruritic, antiseptic, soothing action. The effect is generally caused by the reflex reactions connected with irritations of sensitive nerve terminations: irritations of receptors of skin stimulates educations and release of endogenous biologically active agents (enkephalins, endorphines, peptides, kinin) which participate in regulation of pain, permeability of vessels and other processes which provide the anesthetic distracting and antipruritic action. Antiseptic activity is shown by nonelective defeat of microbic cells. The irritating effect promotes decrease in pain. Local action is followed by vasoconstriction, a cryesthesia which passes into feeling of easy burning and a pricking. Methyl-isopropyl phenol is an antiseptic agent and a disinfectant. It stimulates mucous membranes of a respiratory organs, reduces expectoration, liquefies it, much more reduces amount of slime in it. It eliminates a specific smell, interferes with a disease of bronchial surfaces and formation of excessive secretions, thus preventing sepsis.

Methyl salicylate shows antiinflammatory, analgeziruyushchy action. It not selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase, reduces synthesis of prostaglandins. Normalizes a hyperpermeability of capillaries, improves microcirculation processes, reduces hypostasis and infiltration of the inflamed fabrics.

Oil eucalyptus shows antiseptic and disinfecting action, destroying microorganisms. At local drawing it poslablyat sensitivity. Eucalyptus oil also excites cordial activity.

Indications to use:

- at inflammatory respiratory diseases (cold, pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheitis);

- at muscle pains;

- at joint pains.

Route of administration and doses:

At respiratory diseases to apply ointment on skin in a thorax and a throat a thick layer and to rub. At desire the area of application can be covered with warm, dry fabric, however it needs to be put not densely that date an opportunity to a vypar to reach a nose and a throat.

At muscle and joints pains to apply on the site of muscles or joints with a thick layer and to rub carefully.

To adults and children (age from 2 to 12 years) to use drug to 3 times a day or as it is appointed the doctor.

Duration of treatment is no more than 7 days.

If symptoms of cold do not disappear, to stop uses.

Features of use:

To avoid hit of drug in eyes and on mucous membranes.

Side effects:

Moderate local irritations, erythema, rash, peeling and itch on that area of skin where ointment was applied can be observed. Also the moderated, taking place change of skin color and emergence of spots with fabrics is observed.

Menthol can cause a small tortoiseshell, an erythema or other damages of skin, such as dermatitis.

Long-term use can increase sensitivity to drug and reduce effect of calm of pain.

Interaction with other medicines:

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Camphor and eucalyptus oil easily get through skin and a placental barrier therefore Kombigripp pregnant women cannot apply ointment.

Overdose:

Strengthening of symptoms of side effect, ataxy, drowsiness, reflex apnoea is possible.

Storage conditions:

Drug should be kept in unavailable to children, dry, at a temperature below 25 °C. Not to freeze. To protect from direct hit of a sunlight.
