Clotrimazolum solution of external use

General characteristics. Structure:

International and chemical names: clotrimazole; a diphenyl - (2 chlorophenyl) – 1-imidazolilmetan; main physical and chemical properties: colourless, transparent liquid; structure: 1 ml of solution contains Clotrimazolum 0,01 g;
excipients: poly(ethylene oxide)-400, пропиленглиоль, alcohol of ethyl 96%.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Clotrimazolum - derivative an imidazole, antifungal broad-spectrum agent. The mechanism of its action consists in braking of synthesis of the ergosterol necessary for creation of a cellular membrane of mushrooms that leads to disturbance of its permeability and the subsequent lysis of a cell. Drug causes also increase in permeability of a phospholipidic cover of liposomes, cytoplasm vacuolation, decrease in quantity of ribosomes. Besides, it oppresses activity of peroxidases that in addition facilitates accumulation in a fungal cell of peroxide of hydrogen which takes part in its destruction.
Clotrimazolum has a broad spectrum of activity: it is effective concerning dermatophytes, barmy mushrooms; has antibacterial effect on staphylococcus and streptococci.

Pharmacokinetics. Clotrimazolum has high penetration. When drawing on nails it is found also in a keratin of nails. At external use through skin the insignificant amount of drug is soaked up. Practically it is not absorbed in a system blood stream.

Indications to use:

The fungus diseases of skin, mycoses of skin folds, feet, onychomycoses, chromophytosis, erythrasma, superficial candidiasis caused by the activators sensitive to Clotrimazolum, the mycosis complicated by a secondary pyoderma.

Route of administration and doses:

Clotrimazolum is applied on affected areas by 2-3 times a day and rub. Treatment duration - individual also depends on weight and the course of a disease, localization of pathological changes, efficiency of therapy. Usually the course of treatment proceeds 4 weeks and more. At mycosis of feet (in order to avoid a recurrence) treatment is continued for 3 weeks after disappearance of symptoms of a disease. Before drug application foot is washed with warm soap water, in particular by interdigital sites, carefully dry up.

Features of use:

At treatment of onychomycoses it is necessary to watch that the processed nail plates were close-cut and had a rough surface for the best penetration of drug. In these cases it is preferred as Clotrimazolum solution because of its best getting properties.

Side effects:

In rare instances at the first applications local reactions – reddening, a burning sensation, an itch which usually take place at further use of drug are noted.

Interaction with other medicines:

At simultaneous use Clotrimazolum in the form of solution reduces efficiency of other protivogribkovy drugs. Dexamethasone in high doses slows down antifungal effect of drug.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Clotrimazolum or other components of drug. Pregnancy.

Overdose:

Due to the low absorption of drug its overdose at external use is improbable.

Storage conditions:

To store in cool, protected from light and the place, unavailable to children.

Period of validity - 2 years.
