Liquid paraffin

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 30 ml of a pure liquid paraffin.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Purgative. Softens fecal masses; exerts the weak stimulating impact on motility of a small intestine.

Pharmacokinetics. At intake it is not soaked up.

Indications to use:

Inside – locks at adults. Outwardly – before holding medical procedures for greasing of a tip of an enema, a colonic tube.

Route of administration and doses:

Inside the adult on 15-30 ml (1-2 tablespoons) once a day in    2 h after food. A course of treatment – no more than 5 days.

Features of use:

It is not necessary to appoint medicine pregnant because of possible reflex stimulation of a uterus.

During feeding by a breast apply only on doctor's orders taking into account a ratio advantage for mother/risk to the child.

At children it can be applied only as outside means.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of motor transport and other mechanisms. Data are absent.

Precautionary measures. Before use shake up.

After the termination of a course of intake the liquid paraffin can be allocated some time from an anus and contaminate linen.

Side effects:

Prolonged use can cause digestion process disturbance, an intestines atony, nausea, anorexia, a hypovitaminosis of A, D, E, K, irritation and an itch in the field of an anus.

Allergic reactions (hyperemia, itch) are in some cases possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Strengthens side effects of fat-soluble anthelmintic means.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug, acute inflammatory processes of abdominal organs (appendicitis, peritonitis, a peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum, ulcer colitis), intestinal impassability, intestinal bleeding, a feverish syndrome, hemorrhoids, pregnancy, the periods period, children's age up to 18 years.

Not to apply at poisoning with fat-soluble connections (phosphorus, benzene, etc.). Not to apply inside along with fat-soluble anthelmintic means.

Overdose:

Symptoms: diarrhea, disturbance of water and electrolytic balance.

Symptomatic treatment.

Storage conditions:

In the place protected from light, at a temperature not over 25 ºС. To store in the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity - 5 years. Medicine cannot be used after the term specified on the label.
