Description of an aspen and place of distribution

The tree in height can reach 30 meters, has very extensive root system. The trunk is covered with gray smooth bark, wood of white color with a greenish shade. At a tree small kidneys of brown color. Leaves are next, have the heart-shaped, rhombic or rounded form. In the fall leaves become a saturated golden-red shade. The tree ear rings on which small flowers are located blossoms. Fruits represent small boxes in which there are seeds with a sponge.

The tree quickly grows, but quite painful. Middle age – 85-90 years.

The aspen loves a temperate frigid climate. Meets in the countries of Asia and Europe. It is widespread in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Russia. Prefers to grow in mixed forests on wet soils. Often the aspen can be seen on coast of the rivers, in mountains, in ravines, on glades and edges.

History of use of an aspen

Slavs from antiquity did not love this tree. About it the set of bad beliefs and legends went. Near houses it was not put, to bake firewood from a tree did not heat and did not even use a shadow from its krone.

In Ukraine the tree was not used for construction of houses.

However the aspen was used for fight against various evil spirits, did of it charms. Was considered that it saves from dirty thoughts and fear. And in wells with an aspen felling there was always the clearest water.

Today the tree is preferential used in the practical purposes. It is landed for appearance in settlements, parks and gardens. Bark is used for receiving dyes and a tanning of skin. Do plywood, roofing materials, matches and a container of wood. Build houses of aspen logs.

The tree is a quite good melliferous herb. Bees extract glue which is processed afterwards into propolis from buds of a tree.

Properties of an aspen are used also in medicine. Preferential in the medical purposes apply kidneys, leaves and bark of a tree.

Chemical composition

Bark of a tree contains carbohydrates, aromatic acids, tannins, fenolglikozida, unsaturated fatty acids.

Kidneys also contain all above-mentioned substances. Is present at them still attracts, minerals, essential oils, enzymes, pitches and triglycerides.

Leaves of a tree contain carotinoids, carbohydrates, ascorbic acid, beta carotene, tannins and anthocyans.

Medicinal properties of an aspen

In our country properties of an aspen are not used in official medicine. It is possible to find only biological active additives using aspen bark. And here treatment by an aspen is widespread in Western Europe. Produce drugs which use for treatment of diseases of a prostate and a bladder.

Broths and infusions from kidneys accept inside at cystitis, diseases of joints, at an incontience and at pregnant women, at prostate adenoma. Spirit tinctures from kidneys use at hemorrhoids, dysentery and gastritises. Make ointments which bruises, diseases of joints, trophic ulcers and hemorrhoids treat of the ground kidneys.

From leaves of an aspen prepare hot-pack poultices for treatment of rheumatism and gout. And juice of leaves is used for greasing depriving also of warts.

Contraindications

Treatment by an aspen contraindicated at chronic locks as the knitting action belongs to properties of an aspen.
