Bronchioles

Bronchioles [bronchioli – PNA (The anatomic nomenclature Parisian), BNA (The anatomic nomenclature Basel); bronchuli – JNA (The anatomic nomenclature Yenskaya; lat. diminutive from bronch-(a bronchial tube-); Greek bronchos – a windpipe; the prefix designating communication with bronchial tubes] – branchings of small bronchial tubes which walls do not contain cartilages and glands.

Allocate:

  • Bronchioles respiratory [b. respiratorii – LNH (The Leningrad histologic nomenclature)] – branchings of final bronchioles which directly connect to air cells;
  • Bronchioles final [b. terminales– LNH (The Leningrad histologic nomenclature)] – the bronchioles branching from lobular bronchial tubes.
