Pharmacological properties:

Drug compensates insufficiency of vneshnesekretorny function of a pancreas at the expense of Pancreatinum, and zhelchevydelitelny function of a liver at the expense of a bilious komponet. Festal has proteolytic, amylolytic and lipolytic effect. The enzymes which are a part of Pancreatinum: amylase, a lipase and protease facilitate digestion of carbohydrates, fats and proteins that promotes their fuller absorption in a small intestine. And in this respect Festal practically does not differ from other fermental drugs.
Existence in Festal of bile acids gives to drug additional opportunities for correction of biliary insufficiency which often accompanies chronic pancreatitis. Extract of bile works zhelchegonno, facilitates absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins A, E and K, promotes allocation of a lipase a pancreas
Enzyme hemicellulose promotes splitting of a cellulose that also improves digestive processes, reduces formation of gases in intestines.

Indications to use:

Insufficiency of vneshnesekretorny function of a pancreas at chronic pancreatitis in combination with biliary insufficiency owing to various morbid conditions, clinically shown disturbances of digestion of food, a meteorism, tendency to locks, as a part of a combination therapy at:
- diffusion diseases of a liver - alcoholic and toxic damages of a liver, cirrhosis;
- big losses of bile acids (at patients is after a cholecystectomia);
- the disturbance of circulation of bile acids which is observed at diskineziya of biliary tract, dysbacterioses, malabsorption;
- disturbance of neurohumoral regulation of processes of a bile production and bile secretion at chronic diseases of digestive tract - chronic gastritis, a chronic duodenitis, chronic cholecystitis;

For improvement of digestion of food at patients with normal function of digestive tract in case of errors in food, and also at disturbances of chewing function, a forced long immobilization, a slow-moving way of life.
Preparation to radiological and to ultrasound examination of abdominal organs.

Route of administration and doses:

Inside.
Drug is accepted inside, without chewing, in time or right after food, washing down with a small amount of liquid.
Appoint 1-2 dragees 3 times a day. Higher doses are appointed only by the doctor. The dosage and the mode of dosing at children are defined by the doctor.
Duration of treatment can vary of several days (at disturbance of process of digestion owing to errors in a diet) up to several months or years (in need of continuous replacement therapy).
Before radiological or ultrasonography - on 2 dragees 2-3 times a day in 2-3 days prior to a research.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions (hyperemia of integuments, sneezing, dacryagogue), nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pains (including intestinal colic). At prolonged use in high doses development of a hyperuricemia, hyperuricuria is possible.
At children (at reception in high doses) development of perianal irritation and irritation of a mucous membrane of an oral cavity is possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

At simultaneous use with Festal absorption of PASK (p-aminosalicylic acid), streptocides, antibiotics amplifies; decrease in absorption of iron preparations is possible. Simultaneous use of the antiacid means containing calcium a carbonate and / or magnesium hydroxide can lead to decrease in efficiency of Festal. Cimetidinum strengthens effect of drug.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components, acute pancreatitis, an exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, a liver failure, a hepatic coma or a prekoma, hepatitis, a hyperbilirubinemia, mechanical jaundice, cholelithiasis, an empyema of a gall bladder, intestinal impassability, tendency to diarrhea, children's age up to 3 years (for this dosage form).

With care: mucoviscidosis, pregnancy.

Overdose:

Overdose symptoms - a hyperuricemia and a hyperuricuria. At emergence of symptoms of overdose - drug withdrawal and performing symptomatic therapy.

Storage conditions:

To store at a temperature not above 25 °C in the dry place. To store in the place, unavailable to children. Period of validity 3 years. Not to use after the period of validity specified on packaging.
