General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: нифуроксазид; 5 ml of suspension contain a nifuroksazid of 200 mg;
excipients: methylparaben (methylparahydroxybenzoate) (Е 218), sugar, carbomer, citric acid, monohydrate, an emulsion of a simetikon, fragrance food "banana", sodium hydroxide, the water purified. Main physical and chemical properties: suspension of yellow color with a banana smell. At storage can sedimentate slightly, but at agitation is returned to a homogeneous state.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Nifuroksazid – an intestinal antiseptic agent, derivative 5 nitrofurans; it is active concerning the majority of causative agents of intestinal infections (including the strains mutants steady against other antimicrobic means): gram-positive (Staphylococcus family) and gram-negative (Enterobacteriaceae family: Escherichia, Citrobacter, Enterobacter, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Shigella, Proteus, Yersinia), and also Vibrio cholerae. He is active concerning bacteria of the sort Pseudomonas and the sort Proteus (a type of Proteus inconstans), and also strains of subgroup And a type of Providentia alcalifaciens. It is assumed that drug oppresses activity of dehydrogenases and breaks protein synthesis in pathogenic bacteriums. In sredneterapevtichesky doses has bacteriostatic activity, and in higher – works bakteritsidno. The effect is shown since the first reception hours. In therapeutic doses practically does not break balance of intestinal microflora; does not cause development of resistant strains of pathogenic microorganisms and cross resistance of bacteria to other antimicrobic means that allows to appoint, if necessary, in case of generalized infections it in complex therapy with system drugs. At intestinal infections of virus genesis prevents development of bacterial superinfection.

Pharmacokinetics. After oral administration it is practically not soaked up from a GIT, creating high concentration of active ingredient in intestines. Thanks to such pharmacokinetic features drug has exclusively enteral antiseptic action, has no system antibacterial activity, does not cause all-toxic effects; it is brought out of an organism with a stake. Drug does not influence clinical and biochemical indicators of blood test.

Indications to use:

Acute diarrhea of infectious genesis at children and adults; chronic colitis, coloenteritis of various infectious origin; complex treatment of an intestinal dysbiosis.

Route of administration and doses:

Nifuroksazid apply inside, irrespective of meal, at regular intervals. Before the use suspension needs to be shaken up. For dosing the measured spoon (volume of 5 ml) graduated on 2,5 ml which is enclosed in packaging is used.
Children aged from 1 up to 6 months: on 2,5 ml of suspension 2-3 times a day.
Children aged from 7 months up to 2 years: on 2,5 ml of suspension 4 times a day.
Children aged from 3 up to 7 years: on 5 ml of suspension 3 times a day.
Children are more senior than 7 years and adults: on 5 ml of suspension 4 times a day.
Course of treatment – 5-7 days. Duration of therapy should not exceed 7 days.

Features of use:

At treatment of acute diarrhea it is necessary to carry out rehydration therapy (orally or parenterally, depending on a condition of the patient). It is not necessary to be limited to use only of a nifuroksazid at treatment of the diarrhea complicated by sepsis as drug is not soaked up in intestines and does not come to a blood stream. During treatment nifuroksazidy it is contraindicated to take alcohol (possibly development of disulfiramopodobny reaction (a dermahemia, feeling of heat, a sonitus, the complicated breath, tachycardia, sensation of fear)). Drug contains sucrose that should be considered at purpose of drug a sick diabetes mellitus. Before purpose of suspension babies need to exclude deficit of enzymes which split sucrose.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of motor transport or work with other mechanisms. Does not influence.

Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast. There are no data on adverse influence on a fruit at reception of a nifuroksazid during pregnancy, but whenever possible it is necessary to avoid its use. If necessary, under observation of the doctor, women who nurse can appoint drug.

Children. Not to apply to children aged up to 1st month.

Side effects:

Seldom – an abdominal pain, nausea, strengthening of diarrhea. These symptoms do not demand the treatment termination by drug. Individual hypersensitivity to drug (short wind, skin rash, an itch) which demands drug withdrawal and performing symptomatic therapy is in some cases possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Nifuroksazid not рекомендуетсяприменять along with sorbents, and also with the drugs containing ethanol.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any of drug components, including to other derivatives 5 nitrofurans; diabetes mellitus; children's age up to 1st month.

Overdose:

Cases of overdose are not described. In case of overdose the gastric lavage and a symptomatic treatment is recommended.

Storage conditions:

Period of validity. 2 years. It is not necessary to use drug after the termination of the period of validity specified on packaging. To store at a temperature not above 25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children.
