General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 0,5 mg or 1 mg of naphazoline of nitrate.

Excipients: boric acid, sodium pyroborate, a benzalkoniya chloride, sodium chloride, dinatrium эдетат, eucalyptus oil, hydroxystearate of a makrogolglitserin, the water purified.

The nasal drug having antiinflammatory (antiedematous) properties.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Alpha адреномиметик. Thanks to ability to excite preferential α2-адренорецепторы causes vasoconstriction, has antiinflammatory (antiedematous) properties.

When drawing on mucous membranes of a nose narrows vessels in the place of application, and also in mucous membranes of eyes and nasopharynxes, reduces inflow of blood to venous sine, reduces exudation and puffiness of mucous membranes, facilitates nasal breath, reduces a slezootdeleniye.

At local application the vasoconstrictive effect occurs in 10 minutes and proceeds within 2-6 hours.

Pharmacokinetics. The medicine resorption at topical administration practically does not occur.

At long appointment expressiveness of clinical effect of naphazoline gradually decreases in connection with tolerance development.

Indications to use:

- acute rhinitis, hay rhinitis, sinusitis, antritis, laryngitis, an eustachitis, a hyperemia of a mucous membrane after upper airways operations;
- for simplification of carrying out a rinoskopiya.

Route of administration and doses:

Medicine is delivered in the nasal courses by injection by means of the nasal spraying nozzle.

From a nozzle on a bottle the protective cap is removed. The bottle with medicine is held vertically, the nozzle is entered into a nostril, pressed the valve and at the same time take a breath a nose.

Before use of medicine it is recommended to clear the nasal courses. The tip of the spraying nozzle after use of medicine needs to be wiped. It is not recommended to use the same bottle to several persons in order to avoid spread of an infection.

Features of use:

Use of medicine at chronic rhinitis is not recommended. In need of naphazoline solution use a long time, it is necessary to interrupt surely treatment for several days every 5 days (children have from 6 to 15 years every 3 day) in order to avoid tolerance development.

Influence on ability to manage transport and to perform the works requiring special attention. Naphazoline solution use in therapeutic doses is not contraindicated at control of motor transport.

Side effects:

Side effects meet seldom and generally at prolonged use in high doses.

Local: reactive hyperemia, passing burning, feeling of a pricking, dryness and swelling of mucous membranes of a nose, sneezing, anosmia.

Irritation, at use within more than 1 week - a hyperemia and a rhinedema with disturbance of nasal breath.

System: headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea, perspiration.

Interaction with other medicines:

Solution of naphazoline slows down absorption of mestnoanesteziruyushchy means. Tricyclic antidepressants strengthen vasopressor effect of naphazoline.

It is not necessary to apply along with MAO inhibitors or within 10-14 days after the end of their use.

Efficiency of naphazoline increases in a combination with antihistamines and local corticosteroids that can be followed by development of resorptive action.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity; arterial hypertension, the expressed atherosclerosis, a hyperthyroidism, chronic rhinitis, a serious illness of eyes, a closed-angle form of glaucoma, a diabetes mellitus; a concomitant use of MAO inhibitors and the period from 10 to 14 days after the end of their use; children's age up to 6 years; children's age from 6 to 15 years – spray nasal 1 mg / 1мл.

Pregnancy and lactation. On classification of FDA treats category C medicines. In this regard during pregnancy and a lactation use of naphazoline is admissible if the advantage for mother exceeds potential risk for a fruit or the child.

Overdose:

At the recommended naphazoline solution route of administration cases of overdose are improbable.

At the accidental use of medicine inside: hypertensia, tachycardia, or at higher dose – drowsiness, a hypothermia, bradycardia, arterial hypotension, a mydriasis, arrhythmia. There are no specific antidotes, a symptomatic treatment.

Storage conditions:
