Naphthyzinum Bufus

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 0,5 g or 1 g of Naphthyzinum (naphazoline).

Excipients: the boric acid, water purified.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Naphthyzinum renders the bystry, expressed and long vasopressor action concerning vessels of mucous membranes (reduces puffiness, a hyperemia, exudation). Facilitates nasal breath at rhinitises. In 5-7 days there is a tolerance.

Indications to use:

Acute rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, eustachitis, laryngitis, hypostasis of a throat of allergic genesis, throat hypostasis against the background of radiation, a hyperemia of a mucous membrane after upper airways operations, chronic conjunctivitis as auxiliary medicine – at conjunctivitis of a bacterial origin.

For a stop of nasal bleedings, for simplification of carrying out a rinoskopiya, for lengthening of effect of the local anesthetics (applied to surface anesthesia).

Route of administration and doses:

In otorhinolaryngology: intranazalno (in each nasal course), the adult appoint on 1-3 drops 0,05-0,1% of solution 3-4 times a day.

At children apply 0,05% solution: from 1 to 6 years – on 1-2 drops, from 6 to 15 years – on 2 drops 1-3 times a day.

For the diagnostic purposes – after cleaning of a nose in each nasal course to dig 3-4 drops or to enter the tampon moistened in 0,05% aqueous solution and to leave for 1-2 min.; at hypostasis of phonatory bands to enter 1-2 ml of solution small doses the guttural syringe; at bleedings – tampons, the moistened 0,05% solution.

In ophthalmology: on 1-2 drops of 0,05% of solution in a conjunctiva cavity 1-3 times a day. As additional HP for surface anesthesia – on 2-4 drops of 0,1% of solution of Naphthyzinum for 1 ml of local anesthetic.

Features of use:

Can have resorptive effect. Solution of drug is admissible to be sterilized (after removal of a drop lock and laying) in saturated water vapor at a temperature of 115-116 °C within 30 min.

At prolonged use expressiveness of vasoconstrictive action gradually decreases ( the tachyphylaxis phenomenon) in this connection it is recommended to take in 5-7 days of use a break for several days.

Side effects:

Nausea, tachycardia, headache, increase in arterial pressure, reactive hyperemia, swelling of a mucous membrane of a nasal cavity. Irritation, at use more than 1 week – a rhinedema.

Interaction with other medicines:

It is not necessary to apply along with MAO inhibitors or within 10 days after the end of their use.

Slows down absorption of mestnoanesteziruyushchy medicines (extends their action when carrying out surface anesthesia).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components; arterial hypertension, the expressed atherosclerosis, a hyperthyroidism, chronic rhinitis, a serious illness of eyes, a diabetes mellitus; tachycardia; a concomitant use of MAO inhibitors and the period up to 14 days after the end of their use, age up to 18 years (for 0,1% of solution), age till 1 year (for 0,05% of solution).

Overdose:

Symptoms: decrease in body temperature, bradycardia, increase in arterial pressure.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Storage conditions:

Period of validity - 3 years. Not to use after the period of validity specified on packaging. In protected from light and the place, unavailable to children.

Packaging:

Drops nasal 0,05% and 0,1%. On 5, 10 ml in bottles from a tube glass for medicines like FO. On 5 ml, 10 ml in bottles polymeric with a screw mouth and the screwed cover with the condensing element and a nozzle doser or a nozzle doser with the condensing elements or in bottles polymeric, pressurized by droppers and the screwed covers from polymeric materials.
