General characteristics. Structure:
Active ingredient: 5 g of iodine in 100 g of solution.
Excipients: potassium iodide, the water purified alcohol of ethyl 96,3%.
Pharmacological properties:
Pharmacodynamics. Pharmacological action - antiseptic, antimicrobic, distracting. Coagulates proteins with formation of iodamines. Has bactericidal effect, has the tanning and cauterizing properties.
Irritates receptors of skin and mucous.
At system absorption iodine participates in thyroxine synthesis, strengthens dissimilation processes, favorably affects lipidic and protein metabolism (reduces levels of cholesterol and LPNP).
Pharmacokinetics. At contact with skin for 30% turns into iodides, and other part – remains in the form of elementary iodine. From the surface of skin it is partially soaked up. The absorbed part can come to fabrics and bodies, to be absorbed selectively by a thyroid gland. Iodine is emitted with kidneys (mainly), intestines, sweat and mammary glands.
Indications to use:
Solution of iodine are used outwardly as an antiseptic agent for processing of wounds, grazes, cuts, microtraumas, edges of wounds and fingers of hands of the surgeon, for treatment of fungus diseases of skin, as a revulsive at neuralgia, a miositis.
At bronchitis, laryngitis, tracheitises, a SARS in the form of steam inhalations.
Route of administration and doses:
At external use grease with solution of iodine the surface of skin, in the presence of wounds grease skin at edges of wounds, without applying on a wound surface. For the distracting action apply solution on skin in the form of a grid.
When performing steam inhalations – on 2-3 drops in an inhaler tank.
Features of use:
It is not necessary to allow hits of not divorced medicine on mucous membranes of a mouth, an eye, a vagina and a rectum.
Side effects:
At external use: irritation of skin, at prolonged use on extensive wound surfaces – "iodism" (dacryagogue, hypersalivation, a rhinorrhea, a bronchorrhea, hypostasis of mucous membranes).
Interaction with other medicines:
At simultaneous use with the drugs for external use containing organic compounds the denaturation of proteinaceous components can be observed.
Pharmaceutical it is incompatible with essential oils, ammonia solutions, white sedimentary mercury (explosive mix is formed).
Alkaline or acid medium, presence of fat, pus, blood weaken antiseptic activity.
At the combined use with yellow mercury ointment education in the lacrimal liquid of the mercuric iodide possessing the cauterizing action is possible.
Weakens hypothyroid and goitrogenic influence of drugs of lithium, propylthiouracil and mercazolil.
Contraindications:
Individual intolerance (including hypersensitivity in the anamnesis).
Processing of skin at a furunculosis, acne rash, hemorrhagic diathesis, a small tortoiseshell, diabetic trophic ulcers is not allowed.
Hyperthyroidism, adenoma of a thyroid gland, renal failure
Overdose:
At overdose the phenomena of an iodism, irritation and burns are possible. At inhalation of the concentrated vapors — damage of upper airways (a burn, laringo-and a bronchospasm); at hit of strong solutions inside — heavy burns of a digestive tract; in case of intake – development of hemolysis, a haemoglobinuria; the lethal dose makes about 3 g.
Treatment: the gastric lavage of 0,5% Natrium thiosulfuricum solution, in/in is entered Natrium thiosulfuricum of 30% – to 300 ml.
Storage conditions:
In the place protected from light, at a temperature not below 0 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity - 3 years. Not to use medicine after the termination of a period of validity.
