General characteristics. Structure:
Active ingredient: bisacodyl; bisacodyl (4,4’ - (2-pyridyl-methylene) a diphenyl diacetate); 1 suppository contains 0,01 g (10 mg) of bisacodyl; excipients: silicon dioxide colloid, solid fat.
Pharmacological properties:
Bisacodyl – the purgative stimulating a peristaltics of a large intestine by irritant action on a mucous membrane or direct stimulation of nerve terminations submucosal and mucous neuroplexes. Bisacodyl is badly absorbed from digestive tract and itself influences absorption of electrolytes. As a result of it the increased osmotic pressure holds the most part of water in a gleam of intestines that is a consequence of mitigation of excrements and simplification of their passage in a large intestine.
Besides, the volume of excrements increases that stimulates a peristaltics and facilitates defecation.
Bacterial enzymes of a large intestine metabolize bisacodyl before active connection – biphenol which is subject to conjugation during the first
passings through a liver with glucuronic or sulphuric acid is also returned to intestines through enterogepatichesky circulation. This process prolongs effect of drug.
Works within the first hour after introduction. Absorption of bisacodyl after intrarektalny use is minimum. The absorbed bisacodyl is subject to deacetylation in a liver with formation of a phenolic derivative which is removed with urine over time. A part which remains in a large intestine is removed with a stake.
Indications to use:
Symptomatic treatment of locks, including chronic locks at lying and elderly patients, before diagnostic procedures, surgical and obstetric interventions, and also in before - and the postoperative period.
Route of administration and doses:
Bisacodyl is usually applied before going to bed or till a breakfast.
Adults and children are more senior than 14 years: 1 suppository a day.
Not to use drug a long time.
Features of use:
Appropriate security measures at use.
Not to use drug longer than 7 days. Prolonged use can become the accustoming reason when the act of defecation is possible only after use of a purgative.
With care patients should appoint with diseases of a liver and kidneys.
After use of suppositories it is necessary to wash up hands carefully.
Use during pregnancy and feeding by a breast. It is not necessary to use drug during pregnancy or feeding by a breast.
Ability to influence speed of response at upravleniiavtotransporty or work with other mechanisms. There are no data.
Children. Not to apply to children up to 14 years without consultation of the doctor.
Side effects:
Spastic abdominal pains, irritation in a proctal zone (pain, feeling of heat, bleeding), an inflammation of a mucous membrane of a rectum are possible. Diarrhea which can lead to loss of electrolytes and, as a result, to weakness of muscles, spasms, arterial hypotension.
Frequent use of Bisacodyl for patients of advanced age can strengthen an adynamy, cause the orthostatic hypotension and frustration of coordination of movement connected with loss of electrolytes.
Drug can reduce potassium level in blood.
Interaction with other medicines:
Bisacodyl strengthens effect of cardiac glycosides through decrease in level of potassium in serum. It also strengthens potassiumuretic effect of diuretics and glucocorticoids.
Contraindications:
Intestinal impassability, syndrome of an acute abdomen, appendicitis and other inflammatory processes in an abdominal cavity; gastrointestinal bleedings, uterine bleedings, an acute proctitis, acute hemorrhoids, existence of cracks, a canker of a mucous rectum, a spastic lock, the restrained hernia. Hypersensitivity to Bisacodyl or other components of drug, the period of pregnancy or feeding by a breast, children's age up to two years. Nausea and vomiting of an unknown etiology.
Overdose:
It is shown by diarrhea, spastic pains with loss of a large amount of liquid and electrolytes, muscular weakness and spasms.
Storage conditions:
In the dry, protected from light place at a temperature from +8ºС to +15ºС. To store in the place, unavailable to children. Period of validity. 3 years.
