Folic acid

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent: folic acid of 1 mg.

Pharmacological properties:

The combined drug, stimulates an erythrogenesis at an iron deficiency anemia.
Fe3 + is in a form difficult hydroxide of a polymaltose complex which consists of the central lattice formed by Fe3 kernels + and surrounded with a large number of molecules of a polymaltose; has no pro-oxidatic properties, reduces oxidation of LPNP and LPONP.
Folic acid - group B vitamin, stimulates an erythrogenesis, participates in synthesis of amino acids, nucleic acids, purines, pyrimidines, in sincaline exchange.

Indications to use:

— an iron deficiency anemia (including against the background of pregnancy, in the period of a lactation).

Route of administration and doses:

Inside, on 1 tablets of 2-3 times/days, in time or right after food, before normalization of indicators of hemoglobin, then continue reception on 1 tablet/days before the end of pregnancy (or lactations).
For prevention of anemia - 1 tablets/days.
Treatment duration - not less than 2 months, a maintenance therapy - up to 2-3 months.

Features of use:

At pernicious anemia folic acid should be applied only together with cyanocobalamine as folic acid, stimulating a hemogenesis, does not prevent development of neurologic complications (including a funicular myelosis). Prolonged use of folic acid (especially in high doses) is not recommended because of risk of decrease in concentration in cyanocobalamine blood.

Side effects:

Dyspepsia (feeling of overflow and pressure in epigastric area, nausea, vomiting, a lock or diarrhea), dark coloring a calla (it is caused by removal of not soaked up iron and has no clinical value), allergic reactions.

Interaction with other medicines:

At simultaneous use with chloramphenicol, Neomycinum, polymyxins, tetracyclines absorption of folic acid decreases.
At simultaneous use folic acid reduces effects of Phenytoinum, Primidonum, PASK, Sulfasalazinum, hormonal contraceptives for intake, chloramphenicol.
Folic acid increases metabolism of Phenytoinum.

Contraindications:

— hypersensitivity;
— hemochromatosis;
— hemosiderosis.

Use at pregnancy and feeding by a breast
Use is possible according to the dosing mode.

Storage conditions:

In the dry, protected from light place, at a temperature not above 25 °C.
