Pyrantelum

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent – Pyrantelum of 0.7500 g (in the form of Pyrantelum of an embonat of 2.1625 g).

Excipients: Natrium benzoicum, sodium salt of the carboxylated methyl cellulose, sorbitol of 70%, glycerin, magnesium - aluminum silicate, polysorbate 80, povidone, симетикон an emulsion, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hydroxide, apricot aroma, the water purified.

Description. Suspension of light yellow color with a characteristic smell. Perhaps, division into a liquid layer and a deposit which after agitation make homogeneous suspension.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacokinetics. Pyrantelum эмбонат – it is almost insoluble in water, and in insignificant degree it is soaked up from a digestive tract, after reception of a single dose of 10 mg/kg of body weight, concentration of drug in a blood plasma, makes 0,005 - 0,13 mkg/ml within 1-3 hours.

About 7% are removed with urine in not changed form (0,2-1,6%) and partially in the form of metabolites (0,8-5,6%). It is metabolized in a liver, the main metabolite is N-methyl-1,3-propanodiamin. About 93% of the drug accepted orally are removed in not changed look through intestines.

Pharmacodynamics. Pyrantelum is effective drug at infection intestinal round worms. Affects muscles of intestinal nematodes, by depolarization of their neuromuscular connection and blockade of effect of cholinesterase. Immovable parasites are brought from intestines thanks to the peristaltic movements. Does not cause migration of helminths, does not possess irritant action. Affects mature forms and on parasites in an early stage of development and does not affect larvae during their migration in fabrics. Drug is used first of all at infections with pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis) and ascarids (Ascaris lumbricoides).

It can be applied at infection with an ankylostoma; has more effective effect at treatment of an ankilostomidoz, than at treatment of a necatoriasis.

Indications to use:

- enterobiosis

- ascaridosis

- dochmiasis

- necatoriasis

Route of administration and doses:

Inside in time or after food.

At an enterobiosis and an ascaridosis (also at the mixed invasions these parasites): to adults and children - from rascheta10 body weight mg/kg, once.

Depending on age and the body weight of the patient the following doses are applied: 

children from 6 months to 2 years - 2,5 ml (125 mg) from 2 to 6 years - 5,0 ml (250 mg) from 6 to 12 years - 10,0 ml (500 mg) are more senior than 12 years and adults with body weight to 75 kg - 15,0 ml (750 mg) adults with body weight more than 75 kg - 20,0 ml (1000 mg).

At an ascaridosis. 5 mg of Pyrantelum on 1 kg of body weight, once.

At a dochmiasis treatment is more long:

10 mg/kg of body weight a day within 3 days or 20 mg/kg of body weight a day within 2 days, once 5 ml of suspension (1 measure) - contain 250 mg of Pyrantelum.

Before reception to stir up before receiving homogeneous mix.

Features of use:

It is careful to apply at children up to 2 years, and also in case of an abnormal liver function (causes temporary increase in level aspartattransaminazy).

At treatment of an enterobiosis all at the same time have to be treated jointly the living persons. Careful respect for hygiene (cleaning of premises and cleaning of clothes for destruction of eggs of helminths) serves as prevention of reinfection.

Use of drug during pregnancy and a lactation is possible only in volume cases if the estimated advantage for mother exceeds potential risk for a fruit or the child.

In need of use of drug in the period of a lactation it is necessary to resolve an issue of the breastfeeding termination.

In some cases dizziness therefore it is necessary to be careful during driving of vehicles and service of the mechanical equipment can be observed.

Side effects:

Drug is usually well transferred.

Seldom (> 1/10 000, <1/1 000):

- appetite disturbances, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pains, diarrhea.

Very seldom (<1/10 000):

- allergic skin reactions

- headache, dizziness, drowsiness or sleeplessness.

In isolated cases:

- increase in concentration of hepatic enzymes.

Interaction with other medicines:

Can increase concentration of theophylline in a blood plasma.

Simultaneous use of piperazin slows down action of Pyrantelum.

Contraindications:

- hypersensitivity to drug components

- simultaneous use of piperazin

- myasthenia (treatment period)

Overdose:

Symptoms: lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, spastic abdominal pains, diarrhea, headaches, drowsiness or sleeplessness, excitement, skin rash, abnormal liver function.

Treatment: gastric lavage, use of purgatives, symptomatic therapy.

Storage conditions:

To store in the place protected from light, at a temperature from 15 °C to 25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children!
