Fortrans

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent: macrogoal of 4000 64 g

Excipients: sodium chloride - 1.46 g, potassium chloride - 750 mg, Natrii hydrocarbonas - 1.68 g, sodium sulfate anhydrous - 5.7 g, sodium saccharinate - 100 mg.

Pharmacological properties:

Laxative drug. The macrogoal 4000 represents linear polymer which by means of hydrogen bindings holds water molecules. At the expense of it the osmotic pressure and volume of intestinal contents increases.
The electrolytes which are a part of drug interfere with disturbance of water and electrolytic balance of an organism.
The macrogoal 4000 is not absorbed from a GIT and is not exposed to metabolism.

Pharmacokinetics. The macrogoal 4000 is not absorbed from a GIT and is not exposed to metabolism.

Indications to use:

— preparation for endoscopic or X-ray inspection of a large intestine;
— preparation for the operative measures demanding lack of contents in intestines.

Route of administration and doses:

Drug is appointed inside to adults and teenagers 15 years are more senior. Before use contents of 1 package are completely dissolved in 1 l of water.
The dose of drug is established at the rate of 1 l of the prepared solution on 15-20 kg of body weight (on average 3-4 l of solution).
It is possible to accept a necessary dose once - 4 l in the evening, on the eve of the research or operation. This volume can be divided into 2 receptions - 2 l the night before and 2 l in the morning. Administration of drug needs to be finished for 3-4 h prior to a procedure.

Features of use:

To patients of advanced age with various associated diseases drug is recommended to use under medical control.

Side effects:

From the alimentary system: perhaps - nausea and vomiting at the beginning of reception which stopped at reception continuation, a meteorism.
Allergic reactions: very seldom - skin rash, hypostasis; in isolated cases - an acute anaphylaxis.

Interaction with other medicines:

The diarrhea caused by Fortrans use can lead to disturbance of absorption of other at the same time accepted medicines.

Contraindications:

— serious condition of the patient, for example, dehydration or heavy heart failure;
— existence of a malignant tumor or other disease of a large intestine which is followed by extensive damage of a mucous membrane of intestines;
— full or partial intestinal obstruction;
— age up to 15 years (due to the lack of data on a clinical use);
— hypersensitivity to polyethyleneglycol as there are messages on very rare allergic reactions (rash, hypostasis, in isolated cases - an acute anaphylaxis) on administration of drugs containing polyethyleneglycol.

Use of the drug FORTRANS® at pregnancy and feeding by a breast
There are no sufficient data for impact assessment of a macrogoal 4000 on a fruit malformation at use of drug for pregnant women now. Therefore Fortrans® can be applied at pregnancy only in case of need.
As the macrogoal 4000 is not absorbed from a GIT, Fortrans® can be applied in the period of a lactation (breastfeeding) according to indications.

Use at renal failures
It is contraindicated at renal failures.

Use for children
Contraindication: age up to 15 years (due to the lack of data on a clinical use).

Overdose:

Data on overdose of the drug Fortrans® are not available.

Storage conditions:

Drug should be stored in the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature not above 30 °C.
