Xylomethazolinum Bufus

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 0,5 mg or 1 mg of xylomethazolinum.

Excipients: a benzalkoniya chloride, dinatrium эдетат (Trilonum of B), potassium dihydrophosphate (potassium phosphate monosubstituted), hydrophosphate sodium dodecahydrate (sodium phosphate disubstituted 12-water), sodium chloride, the water purified.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Alpha адреностимулятор, narrows blood vessels of a mucous membrane of a nose, eliminating hypostasis and a hyperemia of a mucous membrane. Facilitates nasal breath at rhinitises. Effect of drug comes in a few minutes after its use and continues within several hours.

Pharmacokinetics. At topical administration it is practically not absorbed, concentration in plasma are so small that they cannot be determined by modern analytical methods.

Indications to use:

Acute allergic rhinitis, ORZ with the rhinitis phenomena, sinusitis, a pollinosis; average otitis (for reduction of hypostasis of a mucous nasopharynx). Training of the patient for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal courses.

Route of administration and doses:

Intranazalno. Drops for a nose for adults and children are more senior than 6 years on 2-3 drops of 0,1% of solution in each nasal course, 4 times a day are usually enough; for babies and children under 6 years on 1-2 drops of 0,05% of solution in each nasal course 1 or 2 times a day; it is not necessary to apply more than 3 times a day.

Features of use:

Before use it is necessary to clear the nasal courses. To children up to 2 years the standard clinical doses are not developed (to use only 0,05%).

It is not necessary to apply for a long time, for example, at chronic rhinitis.

Side effects:

At frequent and/or prolonged use irritation and/or dryness of a mucous membrane of a nasopharynx, burning, pricking, sneezing, hypersecretion.

Seldom – hypostasis of a mucous membrane of a nasal cavity, heartbeat, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increase in arterial pressure, a headache, vomiting, sleeplessness, a vision disorder; a depression (at prolonged use of high doses).

Interaction with other medicines:

It is incompatible with inhibitors of a monoaminooxidase (MAO) and tricyclic antidepressants.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, the expressed atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, thyrotoxicosis, surgical interventions on a meninx (in the anamnesis), children's age (up to 6 years for 0,1% of solution). Not to apply at therapy by inhibitors of a monoaminooxidase and tricyclic antidepressants.

With care. Pregnancy, the lactation period, coronary heart disease (stenocardia), a prostate hyperplasia, a diabetes mellitus, children's age (for 0,05% of solution up to 2 years).

Overdose:

Symptoms: strengthening of side effects.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Storage conditions:

To store in the dry, protected from light place at a temperature not above 25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity - 2 years. Not to use after a period of validity.
