Ischialgia

Description:

Ischialgia is called hip pain and a rump which irradiates (gives) to a shin and foot. The ischialgia is often combined with pain in lumbar area, in this case the syndrome carries the name of a lyumboishalgiya.

Ischialgia symptoms:

The most frequent symptom of an ischialgia is the pain on the back surface of a hip giving to a shin and foot which can be expressed much stronger, than the back pain accompanying it. Usually patients feel pain from average to intolerable which beginning in buttocks, goes down a leg to a foot. It is important to know that at a true ischialgia pain goes down below a knee. Often at patients pains in lumbar area which arise for several days or weeks before the attack of an ischialgia are noted. At the same time the arising scelalgia is expressed much stronger, than the back pain preceding it. At some patients the previous back pain is absent at all.
However, in case of a long disease, pain can become more localized and not reach a shin and a foot. For the first time symptoms of an ischialgia can arise after any movement. After emergence of a disease the numerous movements and actions (a rising, squat, a raising of weights, sneezing, inclinations, an urination) will strengthen pain. The patient, as a rule, feels sense of relief in a lateral decubitus in an embryo pose. Often pain is followed by disturbance of sensitivity and weakness in a leg. Rather seldom there is also a disturbance of an urination and defecation.

Ischialgia reasons:

The term "ischialgia" means that defeat of a sciatic nerve - the biggest nerve of our organism which begins in lumbar area and passes on the back surface of the lower extremity, up to the foot is an origin of pain. As a rule, the true lyumboishalgiya arises at a compression of one of the nervous roots forming a sciatic nerve, hernia of an intervertebral disk. This origin of a dorsodynia meets less than others. So, for example, hard physical work, sports overloads can cause a dorsodynia and a leg which can be incorrectly regarded as a lyumboishalgiya. A task of the doctor is carrying out the differential diagnosis between radicular pain which reason the compression of a nervous root, and the pain caused by a muscle strain or sinews is.

Treatment of the Ischialgia:

It is carried out by nonsteroid protivospalitelny drugs for the purpose of removal of pain. When conservative treatment of a sciatica does not eliminate a pain syndrome, it is necessary to resort to an operative measure.
