Zhivokosta (comfrey) ointment

General characteristics. Structure:

Main physical and chemical properties: ointment of light brown color with a characteristic smell.
Active agents: 1 g of ointment contains a zhivokost of tincture of 0,1 g, vitamin E of Solutio oleosa of 98% (in recalculation for 100% the content of vitamin E) 0,01 g.
Excipients: vaseline, the corn oil refined, glycerin, T-2 emulsifier, нипагин (methylparahydroxybenzoate), fragrance, water cleared.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Effect of drug is defined by components which are its part. The main active ingredients of a zhivokost of tincture are cordianine, mucous and tannins. Cordianine stimulates growth of a bone tissue, processes of regeneration of an epithelium, reduces pain, shows styptic and antiinflammatory action, tannins of a zhivokost accelerate processes of healing of wounds and cankers. Vitamin E improves a trophicity of cells, protects them from damage, strengthens effect of cordianine.

Pharmacokinetics. It is not studied.

Indications to use:

Rheumatic pain, neuralgia, sciatica, lumbago, radiculitis, mialgiya, arthralgia, osteochondrosis; arthritises, sports, household injuries blows, sprains, the closed fractures of bones. Dryness and cracks of skin, a wound which long time do not begin to live, trophic ulcers, dermatitis, eczema.

Route of administration and doses:

Adults and children are more senior than 12 years: depending on the size of a surface of an affected area ointment is applied with a thick layer and carefully rubbed in skin 2–3 times a day, for the night it is possible to apply ointment under a bandage. The course of treatment depends on disease severity, and also on the nature of the accompanying therapy, but  should not exceed 4–6 weeks within a year.

Features of use:

For the prevention of emergence of side effects it is necessary to apply previously a small amount of drug on skin for definition of individual sensitivity. Not to apply on skin with manifestations of allergic reaction. Not to allow hit of ointment in eyes.

Side effects:

Drug is usually well transferred, but  in case of long use symptoms of allergic reaction (an itch, hypostasis, fever) are sometimes possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

 It is not known.

Contraindications:

Drug is contraindicated to children up to 12 years, to women during pregnancy and feeding by a breast. Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Overdose:

Allergic reactions (itch, hypostasis, fever) can develop.
Treatment. At emergence of symptoms of an allergy drug to cancel and wash away the remains from skin.

Storage conditions:

To store at a temperature of 8-15 °C in   the place protected from light and unavailable to children. A period of validity — 2 years.
