They usually are located on a breast, a stomach, a back, a neck, cheeks, on extremities. Arise in various phases of rheumatic process, sometimes as harbingers of the next attack or an exacerbation of rheumatism. The ring-shaped erythema represents the most characteristic skin display of rheumatism and is regarded by many researchers as a pathognomonic symptom.
