Description:
Characteristic, actually rheumatic changes of skin are the knotty and ring-shaped erythema and hypodermic rheumatic small knots though also other changes — a heat rash, allergic manifestations are possible (a small tortoiseshell, a spotty and papular polymorphic erythema, punctate hemorrhagic rash, etc.).
Symptoms of Rheumatism of skin and hypodermic cellulose:
Rheumatic small knots appear in hypodermic cellulose of area of knee, elbow, ankle joints, on the course of sinews, in aponeuroses, in joint bags, on a pilar part of the head. Emergence of small knots is considered as an indicator of transition of acute process in subacute with dominance of productive process therefore they appear several weeks later from the beginning more often and is very rare at the beginning of a disease.
Usually small knots appear at young age, a thicket at children. Quickly appearing, they can quickly disappear, but sometimes keep up to 3-4 months. At microscopic examination rheumatic small knots are a little similar to ashoftalalayevsky granulomas.
The ring-shaped erythema is typical for rheumatism. It appears more often at young age and at children (30 years — to 2% of cases are aged more senior). The erythema has an appearance of the narrow closed or half-closed rings, light pink, bluish-pink which can be combined among themselves and form a peculiar lacy drawing on skin. They usually are located on a breast, a stomach, a back, a neck, cheeks, on extremities. Arise in various phases of rheumatic process, sometimes as harbingers of the next attack or an exacerbation of rheumatism. The ring-shaped erythema represents the most characteristic skin display of rheumatism and is regarded by many researchers as a pathognomonic symptom.
