Ornidazol

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 500 mg of an ornidazol.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Antiprotozoan and antimicrobic drug, derivative 5 nitroimidazoles. The mechanism of action consists in biochemical recovery 5 nitrogroups of an ornidazol intracellular transport proteins of anaerobic microorganisms and protozoa. The recovered 5 nitrogroup of an ornidazol interacts with DNA cells of microorganisms, inhibiting synthesis of their nucleic acids that leads to death of bacteria.

Gardnerella vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis, Entamoeba histolitica, Lamblia spp is active concerning Trichomonas vaginalis., and also strict anaerobes of Bacteroides spp. (including Bacteroides fraglis, Bacteroides distasonis, Bacteroides ovatus, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, Bacteroides vulgatus), Fusobacterium spp., Veillonela spp., Prevotella (P.bivia, P.buccae, P.disiens), and some gram-positive microorganisms (Eubacterium spp., Clostridium). Indications to use:

Trichomoniasis; amebiasis: amoebic dysentery, abenteric amebiasis (including amoebic abscess of a liver); lambliasis; prevention of the infections caused by anaerobic bacteria at operations on a colon and in gynecology.

Route of administration and doses:

Ornidazol appoint inside after food. At trichomoniasis: in 1,5 g once or on 1 g in a combination with intravaginalny introduction of 500 mg (vaginal tablets) for the night.

It is possible to move treatment within 5 days, appointing on 1 tablet (500 mg) in 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening), also with purpose of 1 vaginal tablet 500 mg to night.

At amoebic dysentery to adults and children with body weight over 35 kg — 1,5 g of 1 times a day, at body weight over 60 kg — 2 g/days. To children with the body weight of 12 - 35 kg — 40 mg/kg/days. A course — 3 days.

For treatment of other forms of an amebiasis: to adults and children 12 years — on 0,5 g in the morning and in the evening within 5-10 days are more senior.

At a lambliasis: to adults and children with body weight over 35 kg — on 1,5 g of 1 times a day; to children with the body weight of 12 - 35 kg — on 40 mg/kg/days. Treatment duration — 1-2 days.

Prevention of the infections caused by anaerobic bacteria - 0,5-1 g before operation, after operation — 0,5 g 2 times a day within 3-5 days.

Features of use:

At treatment of trichomoniasis it is necessary to carry out simultaneous treatment of sexual partners.

Side effects:

Drowsiness, headache, disturbance of the GITs functions (including nausea), dizziness, a tremor, muscle tension, an incoordination, spasms, fatigue, a temporary loss of consciousness, the touch or mixed peripheral neuropathy, a perversion of flavoring feelings, change of activity of "hepatic" enzymes, allergic reactions.

Interaction with other medicines:

Strengthens effect of anticoagulants of a coumarinic row, extends myorelaxation action a bromide vekuroniya.

Let's combine with ethanol (does not inhibit an atsetaldegiddegidrogenaza) unlike other imidazolny derivatives (metronidazole).

Contraindications:

Overdose:
