Description:
Cancer of adrenal glands, meet very seldom. New growths of an enveloping layer of gland often happen high-quality, but because the hormones produced by them exceed the volume of the hormones cosecreted by a normal adrenal gland, they as a rule cause various changes. This formation of an enveloping layer of an adrenal gland are called adrenocortical tumors which can be associated with Cushing's syndrome. From a medulla of an adrenal gland two main types of tumors can develop:
I.) The neuroblastoma – as a rule strikes children,
II.) The pheochromocytoma – the frequency of occurrence of this cancer disease makes about 10%.
Adrenal gland Cancer symptoms:
The most expressed display of cancer of adrenal glands is the syndrome of Cushing of which the following changes in a human body are characteristic:
1.) Adiposities on a trunk, especially on a back part of a neck,
2.) Muscular weakness of an upper part of hands,
3.) Muscular weakness of an upper part of legs,
4.) Thinning of skin,
5.) Growth of hair at the woman on a face and a body as at the man,
6.) Perhaps also development of diabetes.
Such symptoms happen both at high-quality, and at a malignant tumor both in that, and in another cases, it, certainly, will be the best way of treatment of a tumor of adrenal glands tumor surgery.
Pheochromocytomas produce substances which influence the blood pressure and responses to a stress, in connection with these they can become the reason of the most different symptoms, for example such as:
1.) Sudden attack of sweating,
2.) Syncope (i.e. loss of consciousness),
3.) Changes of mood,
4.) Cardiopalmus,
5.) Headaches,
6.) Unpleasant feelings in a thorax,
7.) Thirst,
8.) The strengthened urination.
These tumors one many bigger are widespread among middle-aged persons.
Adrenal gland Cancer reasons:
Age. Most often cancer comes to light at children and at persons at the age of 40-50 years.
Incidence in a family. The majority of cases of cancer of bark of adrenal glands have no communication with heredity. Li-Fraumeni's syndrome is a rare hereditary state at which the risk of development of a breast cancer, a prostate, a leukosis, bone tumors and bark of adrenal glands is considerably increased.
Multiple endocrine tumors (MEN-1) – the inherited state resulting in high risk of developing of tumors of three glands - a hypophysis, parathyroids and a pancreas. 1/3 such patients can also have also a cancer of bark of adrenal glands which is usually proceeding asymptomatically.
The way of life and the known risk factors of the environment significantly influence the frequency of development of many forms of cancer, but do not influence developing of cancer of bark of adrenal glands.
Cancer therapy of an adrenal gland:
In most cases at patients the tumor is removed in the surgical way. Because gland rather not big and plus to it it is very hardly accessible, the patient has to understand that the scar after surgery will be more than it was possible to assume.
If the patient has a pheochromocytoma, it is necessary to watch very carefully effect of the adrenal glands of hormones produced by a tumor, both before operation, and during operations and after it, i.e. during rehabilitation after an oncotomy of adrenal glands to watch blood pressure, introduction in it cases of additional liquids in a vein happens enough.
For relief of symptoms and even reduction of the size of metastasises, metaiodbenzylguanidine (MIBG) is entered into an organism, pheochromocytomas contact MIBG which in an effect can be connected to radioactive isotope. At input of radioactive isotope in an organism, the injection in a vein, isotope gets into a malignant tumor and destroys rather large number an onkokletok that sometimes brings before reduction of metastasises.
