Timolol-akos

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent: Timololum a maleate (in terms of Timololum) - 2,5 mg or 5,0 mg. Excipients: alkyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride (a benzalkoniya chloride) - 0,1 mg, sodium dihydrophosphate (sodium phosphate monosubstituted 2-water) - 7,26 mg, sodium [hydrophosphate] dodecahydrate (sodium phosphate disubstituted 12-water, dinatrium phosphate dodecahydrate) - 28,6 mg, water for injections - to 1 ml.

Pharmacological properties:

Protivoglaukomny drug. A non-selective blocker of β-adrenoceptors without sympathomimetic activity. At topical administration reduces intraocular pressure due to reduction of formation of watery moisture and small increase in its outflow.

Action is shown in 20 min. after an instillation, the maximum effect is noted in 1-2 h, action duration - 24 h.

 

Pharmacokinetics. Timololum the maleate quickly gets through a cornea into eye tissues. In insignificant quantity gets to a system blood stream by absorption through a conjunctiva, mucous membranes of a nose and the lacrimal ways.

It is removed with urine in the form of metabolites.

Indications to use:

— open angle glaucoma;

— secondary glaucoma (uveal, afakichesky, posttraumatic);

— acute increase in intraocular tension;

— closed-angle glaucoma (in a combination from miotika).

Route of administration and doses:

Features of use:

Contact lenses should be removed before an instillation and to put on not earlier than in 15 min. after the procedure.

At prolonged use of drug easing of effect is possible.

Influence on ability to driving of motor transport and to control of mechanisms

Side effects:

Local reactions: a dermahemia a century, burning and an itch in eyes, a conjunctiva hyperemia, dacryagogue or reduction of a slezootdeleniye, a photophobia, cornea epithelium hypostasis, short-term disturbance of visual acuity, a blepharitis, conjunctivitis; at prolonged use development of a superficial dot keratopathy (reduction of transparency of a cornea), decrease in sensitivity of a cornea, a ptosis is possible; seldom - a diplopia.

From cardiovascular system: decrease in the ABP, bradycardia, bradyarrhythmia, AV blockade, heart failure, cardiac standstill.

From TsNS: paresthesias, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, hallucinations, passing disturbance of cerebral circulation, depression.

Co of the party of respiratory system: rhinitis, nose congestion, asthma, bronchospasm, pulmonary insufficiency.

From the alimentary system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

Others: nasal bleeding, muscular weakness, disturbance of sexual function, decrease in a potentiality, collapse, allergic reactions (including small tortoiseshell).

Interaction with other medicines:

At simultaneous use Epinephrinum, Pilocarpinum, system beta adrenoblockers strengthen action of Timolola-AKOS.

At simultaneous use with Reserpinum development of the expressed bradycardia or hypotension (in need of use of this combination it is necessary to carry out careful medical control) is possible.

At simultaneous use with blockers of calcium channels or cardiac glycosides disturbance of AV of conductivity, an acute left ventricular failure or arterial hypotension is possible.

Timolol-AKOS strengthens action of muscle relaxants (therefore it is necessary to cancel drug for 48 h before alleged carrying out the general anesthesia with use of peripheral muscle relaxants).

Contraindications:

— bronchial asthma;

— sinus bradycardia;

— AV blockade of II and III degrees;

— acute and chronic heart failure;

— cardiogenic shock;

— rhinitis;

— hypersensitivity to drug components.

 

Use of drug TIMOLOL-AKOS at pregnancy and feeding by a breast
At pregnancy drug is used if the expected advantage for mother exceeds potential risk for a fruit.

During drug use breastfeeding should be stopped.

 

Use for children

Overdose:
