General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 50 mg of an acyclovir in 1 g of cream.

Excipients: dinatrium эдетат, chlorocresol, cetostearyl alcohol, white soft paraffin, light liquid paraffin, цетомакрогол 1000, sodium lauryl sulfate, propylene glycol, диметикон, sodium hydrophosphate, dinatrium phosphate, the water purified.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Antiviral drug for topical administration from group of synthetic analogs of an acyclic purine nuleozid – a dezoksiguanidin which is the DNA compound component. Has high activity concerning a virus of a herpes simplex (Herpes simplex) I And II of types, a virus of shingles (Varicella-zoster), Epstein-Burra's virus and a cytomegalovirus. Identity of structures of an acyclovir and dezoksiguanidin allows the first to interact with virus enzymes that stops replication of viruses. After penetration into the struck cell under the influence of a virus thymidinekinase there takes place a number of consecutive reactions of transformation of active agent in mono - di - and triphosphate of an acyclovir which is built in a chain of virus DNA and blocks its synthesis by competitive oppression of a virus DNA polymerase. It leads to oppression of replication of new generation of a virus. The acyclovir triphosphate practically does not influence DNA replication of not infected cells.

Pharmacokinetics. At topical administration on intact skin the acyclovir practically does not get to a system blood stream, does not cause systemic action and it is not found in urine (system absorption minimum). When drawing on skin that the affected with shingles, system absorption moderate. At persons with normal function of kidneys concentration in blood serum makes up to 0,28 mkg/ml, and persons with renal failures have 0,78 mkg/ml. About 9% of a daily dose are removed with urine.

Indications to use:

Infections of skin and the mucous membranes caused by viruses of a herpes simplex (Herpes simplex) I And II of types, primary and recurrent genital herpes, herpetic damage of lips, the localized shingles.

Route of administration and doses:

Drug is intended only for external use. The amount of cream which is applied on skin depends on the size of the damaged site. For the prevention of additional infection drug is applied with a cotton plug or clean hands. Cream should be applied with a thin layer on struck and on each 4 h surrounding them sites of skin (5 times a day) within 5 days. In cases when during this time healing does not occur, topical treatment is continued within 5 days. Duration of use of drug should not exceed 10 days.

Features of use:

For achievement of the maximum therapeutic effect treatment by drug is recommended to be begun as soon as possible, at the first symptoms of a disease. After use of drug it is necessary to wash up hands water with soap for prevention of spread of an infection. It is not recommended to apply cream on a mucous membrane of an oral cavity because of high probability of development of the expressed local inflammation, pain and hypostasis. At treatment of genital herpes it is necessary to avoid sexual contacts.

Drug is not intended for treatment of a virus keratitis. It is necessary to avoid hit of cream in eyes.

As there is no sufficient clinical experience about safety of use of drug for pregnant women and in the period of a lactation therefore cream can be applied only if the estimated advantage for mother exceeds any potential risk for a fruit or the child.

Side effects:

Usually drug is well transferred by patients. At prolonged use emergence of local allergic reaction in the form of erubescence, a peeling, an erythema, a xeroderma on site of putting cream is sometimes possible. In some cases perhaps local irritation of a mucous membrane, burning sensation, acute pain.

Interaction with other medicines:

At external use of drug interaction with other medicines is not revealed.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to an acyclovir or to other components of drug.

Overdose:

Data on cases of overdose are absent.

Storage conditions:

To store in unavailable to children, the dry place at a temperature not above 25 °C. A period of validity – 2 years.
