General characteristics. Structure:

Aktivnyy substance: Spray of nasal 0.1% 1 ml - xylomethazolinum a hydrochloride of 1 mg.

Pharmacological properties:

At topical administration it is practically not absorbed, concentration in plasma are so small that they cannot be determined by modern analytical methods.

Indications to use:

Acute allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, pollinosis, average otitis (for reduction of hypostasis of a mucous nasopharynx), training of the patient for diagnostic procedures in the nasal courses.

Route of administration and doses:

Apply locally within 7-14 days. The dose depends on the used dosage form and age of the patient.

Features of use:

It is not necessary to apply for a long time, for example, at chronic rhinitis. At catarrhal diseases when in a nose crusts are formed, it is preferable to appoint in the form of gel.

Use in pediatrics

With care appoint xylomethazolinum to children under 2 years (gel – up to 7 years).

Side effects:

At frequent and/or prolonged use: irritation mucous, burning, pricking, sneezing, dryness mucous nose, hypersecretion.

Seldom: a rhinedema (is more often at prolonged use), heartbeat, disturbances of a cordial rhythm, increase in the ABP, a headache, vomiting, frustration of a dream, a vision disorder.

At prolonged use in high doses: depression.

Interaction with other medicines:

It is incompatible with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Contraindications:

Closed-angle glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, the expressed atherosclerosis, hyperthyroidism, surgical interventions on a meninx (in the anamnesis), hypersensitivity to xylomethazolinum.

Use at pregnancy and feeding by a breast
At pregnancy and in the period of a lactation it is necessary to apply only after careful assessment of a ratio of risk and advantage to mother and a fruit, exceeding of the recommended doses is not allowed.

Use for children
With care appoint xylomethazolinum to children under 2 years (gel – up to 7 years).

Storage conditions:

To store at a temperature not above 25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children. Period of validity 3 years. Not to use after a period of validity.
