Hydrocortisone

General characteristics. Structure:

Oculentum of 0.5% white, white with a yellowish shade or yellow color.

Active ingredient:   1 g
Hydrocortisoni acetas      of 5 mg

Excipients: нипагин (methylparahydroxybenzoate or methylparaben), vaseline.

Pharmacological properties:

GKS for topical administration in ophthalmology. Has antiinflammatory and antiallergic effect. Reduces inflammatory cellular infiltrates, reduces migration of leukocytes and lymphocytes in the field of an inflammation.

Pharmacokinetics. Data on pharmacokinetics of drug are not provided.

Indications to use:

— an inflammation of front department of an eye at an undisturbed epithelium of a cornea (injuries and surgical interventions on an eyeglobe);

— sympathetic ophthalmia;

— conjunctivitis;

— blepharitis;

— iritis;

— iridocyclitis;

— keratitis;

— uveitis;

— an inflammation against the background of chemical and physical impacts.

Route of administration and doses:

Enter 1-2 cm of an oculentum into a conjunctival sac 2-3.

Features of use:

During treatment drug should not use contact lenses.

At use of eye drops time interval between their application and putting ointment - not less than 15 min.

At ointment use more than 2 weeks and existence in the anamnesis of glaucoma it is necessary to control intraocular pressure.

Influence on ability to driving of motor transport and to control of mechanisms

Within 30 min. after use of ointment it is necessary to abstain from the occupations requiring special attention.

Side effects:

From an organ of sight: burning, injetsirovannost of scleras; at prolonged use - a back subkapsulyarny cataract, increase in intraocular pressure, an exophthalmos, tendency to development of a consecutive fungal, bacterial or viral infection of eyes, trophic changes of a cornea.

Interaction with other medicines:

The risk of development of a cataract at use against the background of GKS of antipsychotic means (neuroleptics), Carbutamidum and Azathioprinum increases.

Simultaneous use of GKS with holinoblokator (including antihistaminic drugs, tricyclic antidepressants) and nitrates promotes increase in intraocular pressure.

Contraindications:

— vaccination period;

— virus, fungal and infectious infections of eyes;

— disturbance of integrity of an eye epithelium;

— trachoma;

— tuberculosis of eyes;

— hypersensitivity to drug components.

With care it is necessary to use drug at arterial hypertension, a diabetes mellitus, pregnancy, in the period of a lactation.

 

Use of the drug HYDROCORTISONE at pregnancy and feeding by a breast

Use of drug at pregnancy is possible only in that case when the estimated advantage for mother surpasses potential risk for a fruit. It is recommended to accept drug at pregnancy no more than 7-10 days.

In need of use of drug in the period of a lactation it is necessary to resolve an issue of the breastfeeding termination.

Overdose:

So far cases of overdose were not observed.

Storage conditions:

Drug should be stored in the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature from 5 to 15 °C. A period of validity - 2 years.
