Calcium gluconate solution

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent - calcium a gluconate of 500,0 mg.

Excipient: water for an injection to 5 ml.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacokinetics. After parenteral administration drug with a blood flow is evenly distributed in all fabrics and bodies. In a blood plasma about 45% of drug are in a complex with proteins. Gets through a placental barrier, gets to breast milk. It is brought out of an organism generally by kidneys.

Pharmacodynamics. Calcium drug, fills shortage of calcium ions which are necessary for implementation of process of transfer of nervous impulses, reduction of skeletal and unstriated muscles, activity of a myocardium, formation of a bone tissue, a blood coagulation. Renders antiallergic, antiinflammatory, haemo static, disintoxication and weak sedative action.

Calcium reduces permeability of cells and a vascular wall, prevents development of inflammatory reactions, increases body resistance to infections and can strengthen considerably phagocytosis (phagocytosis, sni-жающийся after chloride sodium reception, increases after calcium reception). At intravenous administration stimulates sympathetic department of the autonomic nervous system, strengthens allocation by adrenaline adrenal glands, has moderate diuretic effect.

Indications to use:

- epithelial body hypofunctions;

- hypocalcemia;

- hepatitis;

- toxic damage of a liver, nephrite, eclampsia;

- the increased requirement of calcium (at pregnancy, a lactation, the strengthened growth of an organism);

- pulmonary, gastrointestinal, nasal, uterine bleedings;

- allergic diseases, including medicinal allergy;

- poisonings with magnesium salts, oxalic acid and its soluble salts (as an antidote).

Route of administration and doses:

Intravenously, intramusculary. In oil and in (an ampoule with solution warm up to body temperature) the adult enter on 5–10 ml 10% of solution daily, every other day or 2 days, depending on indications.

To children, depending on age, each 2–3 days enter into a vein from 1 to 5 ml of 10% of solution.

Into a vein solution of calcium of a gluconate is entered slowly (in currents of 2-3 minutes). The syringe before filling should not contain the alcohol remains as at interaction with it the gluconate of calcium drops out in a deposit.

Features of use:

To patients with an insignificant hypercalcuria, decrease in glomerular filtering or nefrourolitiazy in the anamnesis appointment has to be carried out under control of calcium in urine. For decrease in risk of a nefrourolitiaz plentiful drink is recommended.

Use of drug does not influence ability to manage motor transport or potentially dangerous mechanisms.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible.

At intravenous and intramuscular administration - nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bradycardia.

At intravenous administration - burning in oral cavities, feeling of heat, at bystry intravenous administration - a lowering of arterial pressure, arrhythmia, a faint, a cardiac standstill.

At intramuscular introduction - a necrosis in an injection site.

Interaction with other medicines:

Under the influence of Colestyraminum absorption of calcium from digestive tract decreases. At simultaneous use with quinidine delay of intra ventricular conductivity and increase in toxicity of quinidine is possible. At simultaneous use of calcium of a gluconate and tetracyclines action of the last can decrease in connection with reduction of their absorption. In need of simultaneous use with other medicines control of the doctor is necessary.

Contraindications:

- hypersensitivity to drug;

- hypercalcemia;

- hypercalcuria;

- heavy renal failure;

- tendency to fibrinferments;

- atherosclerosis;

- lactation period;

- for introduction in oil - children's age (risk of emergence of necroses).

Overdose:

Symptoms: hypercalcemia.

Treatment: parenterally 5-10МЕ/кг/сут a calcitonin (having parted it in 500 ml of 0,9% of solution of sodium of chloride). Duration of introduction is 6 h.

Storage conditions:

To store in the dry, protected from light place, at a temperature not above 30 °C.

To store in the place, unavailable to children!
