Bromhexine 8
Producer: Krewel Meuselbach GmbH Germany
Code of automatic telephone exchange: R05CB02
Release form: Liquid dosage forms. Drops for oral administration.
General characteristics. Structure:
Active ingredient: 0,8 g of Bromhexine of a hydrochloride.
Excipients: an anise star-shaped fruits oil, fennel bitter fruits oil, left menthol, a grass thyme oil, mints oil, an eucalyptus oil, sucrose, polysorbate 80, ethanol of 96%, Acidum hydrochloricum dodecahydrate, the water concentrated 36%, phosphate potassium a dihydrate, hydrophosphate sodium cleared.
Pharmacological properties:
Pharmacodynamics. Bromhexine 8 renders mucolytic (sekretolitichesky), expectorant and weak antibechic action. Reduces viscosity of a phlegm (depolymerizes mucoprotein and mukopolisakharidny fibers, increases a serous component of a bronchial secret); activates a ciliary epithelium, increases volume and improves otkhozhdeny phlegms.
Pharmacokinetics. At intake Bromhexine almost completely (99%) is soaked up in a GIT within 30 min. Bioavailability makes 80% owing to effect of the first passing through a liver. Bromhexine in plasma contacts proteins, gets through GEB and placental barriers. In a liver Bromhexine is exposed to demethylation and oxidation, a part of the formed metabolites (Ambroxol) keeps activity. T1/2 makes 15 h owing to slow return diffusion of fabrics. Cmax in blood is reached approximately in 1 h after reception. It is excreted by kidneys. At a chronic renal failure allocation of metabolites of Bromhexine is broken. At repeated use Bromhexine can kumulirovat.
Indications to use:
The acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases which are followed by formation of a phlegm of the increased viscosity (pneumonia, a tracheobronchitis, obstructive bronchitis, bronchiectasias, emphysema of lungs, a mucoviscidosis, a pulmonary tuberculosis, a pneumoconiosis).
Route of administration and doses:
Inside. If the doctor did not appoint other dosage, Bromhexine 8 is accepted by 3 times a day.
Patients | Single dose | Maximum day dose |
Adults and teenagers are more senior than 14 years | 23–46 drops (there correspond 8–16 mg of Bromhexine of a hydrochloride) | 138 drops = 48 mg of Bromhexine of a hydrochloride |
Teenagers from 12 to 14 years and patients with the body weight of 50 kg | 23 drops (there correspond 8 mg of Bromhexine of a hydrochloride) | 69 drops = 24 mg of Bromhexine of a hydrochloride |
At a renal failure the required dose of drug is reduced or increase intervals between its receptions.
In the course of treatment it is recommended to use enough liquid that supports sekretolitichesky action of Bromhexine.
If the picture of a disease worsens or after 4–5 days there did not occur improvement, it is necessary to consult with the doctor.
Features of use:
Drug contains 41 about. alcohol %. At observance of a dosage the patient accepts to 0,36 g of alcohol on 1 ml (23 drops). Constitutes danger to people with liver diseases, alcoholism, epilepsy, brain diseases, and also for pregnant women and children.
It was very seldom reported about emergence of syndromes of Stephens-Johnson and Layell who are in temporary communication with administration of drug Bromhexine 8. At emergence of changes on skin or a mucous membrane it is necessary to stop administration of drug and to see a doctor.
Side effects:
Nausea, abdominal pains, vomiting, diarrhea; sometimes — heat, hypersensitivity (skin rashes, a Quincke's disease, suffocation, an itch, a small tortoiseshell); very seldom — anaphylactic reaction, up to shock; extremely seldom — an aggravation of a peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum, dizziness, a headache, increase in activity of hepatic transaminases.
Interaction with other medicines:
It is possible to appoint Bromhexine 8 along with other drugs used at treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases.
Bromhexine 8 do not appoint along with antibechics (including containing codeine) since they can complicate expectoration of the liquefied phlegm.
Bromhexine 8 promotes penetration of antibiotics (amoxicillin, erythromycin, cefalexin, Oxytetracyclinum), sulfanamide drugs in a bronchial secret in the first 4–5 days of antimicrobic therapy.
Contraindications:
- hypersensitivity to drug components;
- a peptic ulcer (in an aggravation stage);
- pregnancy and lactation;
- children's age up to 12 years (in view of availability of alcohol).
With care: patients with the diseases of bronchial tubes which are followed by excessive accumulation of a secret, gastric bleeding in the anamnesis, a renal and/or liver failure, hereditary intolerance of fructose, glyukozo-galaktozny malabsorption or insufficiency of sucrose-isomaltase, bronchial asthma (since accidental inhalation of left menthol, eucalyptus and mint oils as a part of drug can lead to a laryngospasm or cause an attack of bronchial asthma).
Overdose:
Life-threatening overdoses at use of Bromhexine 8 for the person are unknown. At overdose, as a rule, there are no symptoms of a disease which are beyond usual by-effects.
Treatment at acute overdose: artificial vomiting, gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy.
