General characteristics. Structure:
Active agent: Bromhexine hydrochloride of 8 mg.
Pharmacological properties:
Mucolytic means with expectorant action. Reduces viscosity of a bronchial secret due to depolarization of the acid polysaccharides which are contained in it and stimulation of secretory cells of a mucous membrane of the bronchial tubes developing the secret containing neutral polysaccharides. Believe that Bromhexine promotes formation of surfactant.
Pharmacokinetics. Bromhexine is quickly soaked up from a GIT and is exposed to intensive metabolism at "the first passing" through a liver. Bioavailability makes about 20%. At healthy patients of Cmax in plasma is defined by 1 h.
It is widely distributed in body tissues. About 85-90% are removed with urine mainly in the form of metabolites. A metabolite of Bromhexine is Ambroxol.
Linkng of Bromhexine with proteins of plasma high. T1/2 in a terminal phase makes about 12 h.
Bromhexine gets through GEB. In small amounts gets through a placental barrier.
Only small amounts are removed with urine from T1/2 6.5 h.
The clearance of Bromhexine or its metabolites can decrease at patients with heavy abnormal liver functions and kidneys.
Indications to use:
The respiratory diseases which are followed by formation of the hardly separated viscous secret: a tracheobronchitis, chronic bronchitis with a bronkhoobstruktivny component, bronchial asthma, a mucoviscidosis, chronic pneumonia.
Route of administration and doses:
Inside to adults and children 10 years - on 8 mg of 3-4 times/days are more senior. To children under 2 years - on 2 mg of 3 times/days; aged from 2 up to 6 years - on 4 mg of 3 times/days; aged from 6 up to 10 years - on 6-8 mg of 3 times/days. If necessary the dose can be increased by the adult to 16 mg of 4 times/days, to children - to 16 mg of 2 times/days.
In the form of inhalations by the adult - on 8 mg, children 10 years - on 4 mg, at the age of 6-10 years - on 2 mg are more senior. Aged up to 6 years - apply up to 2 mg in doses. Inhalations spend 2 times/days.
Therapeutic action can be shown for 4-6 day of treatment.
Parenteral administration is recommended for treatment in hard cases, and also in the postoperative period for the prevention of accumulation of a dense phlegm in bronchial tubes. Enter 2 mg п / to, in oil or into 2-3 times/days slowly within 2-3 min.
Features of use:
At a peptic ulcer of a stomach, and also at instructions on gastric bleeding in the anamnesis Bromhexine should be applied under control of the doctor.
With care to apply at the patients having bronchial asthma.
Bromhexine is not applied along with the medicines containing codeine since it complicates expectoration of the liquefied phlegm.
Apply as a part of the combined drugs of a plant origin with essential oils (including with eucalyptus oil, anise oil, peppermint oil, menthol).
Side effects:
- From the alimentary system: the dispeptic phenomena, tranzitorny increase in activity of hepatic transaminases in blood serum.
- From TsNS: headache, dizziness.
- Dermatological reactions: the increased sweating, skin rash.
- From respiratory system: cough, bronchospasm.
Interaction with other medicines:
Bromhexine is incompatible with alkaline solutions.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Bromhexine.
Use at pregnancy and feeding by a breast
At pregnancy and a lactation Bromhexine is applied in cases when the estimated advantage for mother exceeds potential risk for a fruit or the child.
Overdose:
There are no data.
Storage conditions:
In the dry, protected from light place, at a temperature not above 25 °C.
