Description
Inodorous solution, transparent, colourless till slightly yellowish color.
Pharmacological properties:
Ambroxol (active metabolite of Bromhexine) is mucolytic drug which improves rheological properties of a phlegm, reduces its viscosity and adhesive properties that promotes its removal from respiratory tracts.
Ambroxol stimulates activity of serous cells of glands of a cover of bronchial tubes, production of the enzymes splitting bonds between phlegm polysaccharides, formation of surfactant and directly activity of cilia of bronchial tubes, interfering with their adhesion.
After intake the therapeutic effect occurs in 30 minutes and remains within 6-12 hours (depending on the accepted dose).
Indications to use:
Ambrobene - solution is applied to intake and inhalations at respiratory diseases with allocation of a viscous phlegm and with difficulty of an otkhozhdeniye of a phlegm:
- acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia;
- bronchial asthma;
- bronchoectatic disease.
Route of administration and doses:
Use inside:
Inside Ambrobene's drug is accepted after food with enough liquid (for example, water, juice or tea) by means of the enclosed measured glass.
The following dosages are usually used (1 ml of solution contains 7,5 mg of Ambroxol):
Children up to 2 years accept 1 ml of solution 2 times a day (15 mg/days).
Children from 2 to 6 years accept 1 ml of solution 3 times a day (22,5 mg/days).
Children from 6 to 12 years accept 2 ml of solution 2-3 times a day (30-45 mg/days).
Adults and teenagers in the first 2-3 days of treatment accept 4 ml of solution 3 times a day (90 mg/days), in the next days on 4 ml of solution 2 times a day (60 mg/days).
Inhalations:
At Ambrobene's use in the form of inhalations it is possible to use any modern equipment (except steam inhalations). Before inhalation drug mixes up from 0,9% chloride sodium solution (for optimum moistening of air it is possible to part in the ratio 1:1) and is warmed up to body temperature. Inhalations should be carried out in the mode of usual breath (not to provoke tussive pushes). The patients having bronchial asthma in order to avoid nonspecific irritation of respiratory tracts and their spasm before inhalation of Ambroxol need to apply bronchial spasmolytics. Usually use the following dosages (1 ml of solution contains 7,5 mg of Ambroxol):
Children up to 2 years inhalate 1 ml of solution 1-2 times a day (7,5-15 mg/days).
Children from 2 to 6 years on 2 ml of solution 1-2 times a day (15-30 mg/days).
Children are more senior than 6 years and adults inhalate 2-3 ml of solution 1-2 times a day (15-45 mg/days).
Treatment of children up to 2 years is carried out only under control of the doctor.
During administration of drug of Ambrobene it is recommended plentiful drink.
It is not recommended to apply Ambrobene without medical appointment more, than within 4-5 days.
Side effects:
Occasionally weakness, a headache, dryness in a mouth and airways, hypersalivation, a rhinorrhea, a gastralgia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a lock, a dysuria, a dieback can develop. Seldom or never allergic reactions can be observed (skin rash, Quincke's diseases of the person, breath disturbance, temperature reaction with a fever). There is a message that allergic contact dermatitis was in some cases observed, and in one case observed emergence of an acute anaphylaxis.
Interaction with other medicines:
Simultaneous use with the medicines having antibechic activity (for example, containing codeine), is not recommended because of difficulty of removal of a phlegm from bronchial tubes against the background of reduction of cough.
Co-administration with antibiotics (amoxicillin, tsefuroksy, erythromycin, doxycycline) improves receipt of antibiotics in pulmonary ways. Similar interaction with doxycycline is widely used in the therapeutic purposes.
Contraindications:
- hypersensitivity to Ambroxol and/or other components of a ready dosage form;
- peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum;
- epileptic syndrome
Relative contraindications
At restriction of functional capacity of kidneys and/or at a serious illness of a liver of Ambrobene it is necessary to accept with extra care, reducing the applied dose and increasing time between administrations of drug (usually in these conditions treatment is carried out under observation of the doctor).
With extra care and only under observation of the doctor it is necessary to apply Ambrobene also in cases of disturbance of motility of bronchial tubes and at large volumes of the allocated secret (danger of emergence of stagnation of a secret in bronchial tubes).
USE DURING PREGNANCY AND DURING BREASTFEEDING
In spite of the fact that there are no reliable data about negative influence of Ambroxol on a fruit and babies so far, to apply Ambrobene during pregnancy, especially in the I trimester, and during feeding by a breast perhaps only after the careful analysis of a ratio advantage/risk by the attending physician.
Overdose:
Ambroxol is well transferred at intake in a dose to 25 mg/kg to days.
Symptoms: increase in salivation, nausea, vomiting, lowering of arterial pressure.
Treatment: a gastric lavage in the first 1-2 hours after administration of drug, reception of fat-containing products; control of indicators of a hemodynamics and carrying out in case of need is necessary for symptomatic therapy.
