Indometacin

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 50 mg of indometacin in 1 g of gel.

Excipients: alcohol, macrogoal 400, carbomer, dimethyl sulfoxide, propylene glycol.

The non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug for topical administration having the antiinflammatory, anesthetizing and antiedematous effect.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Indometacin is one of the most active non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for external use. Has the antiinflammatory, anesthetizing and antiedematous effect which is caused by oppression of biosynthesis of prostaglandins and other mediators of an inflammation and pain, reduction of permeability of capillaries and the stabilizing influence on lizosomalny membranes. Indometacin slows down aggregation of thrombocytes.

At external use eliminates pain, reduces hypostasis and an erythema, promotes reduction of morning constraint and a swelling of joints, promotes increase in volume of movements.

Indications to use:

- joint syndrome: joint rheumatism, acute and chronic rhematoid polyarthritis, osteoarthrosis, other arthritises and arthroses, Bekhterev's disease, gout;
- backbone pains, neuralgia, mialgiya, diskopathy, neuritis, plexitis, radiculitis;
- traumatic inflammation of soft tissues and musculoskeletal system.

Route of administration and doses:

Gel is applied by 2-3 times a day on area of the affected joints or other parts of a body, rubbing in skin. For the purpose of increase in efficiency of therapy use of occlusive bandages is possible.

Gel should be applied only on the unimpaired sites of skin, avoiding hit in eyes and on mucous membranes.

Duration of a course of treatment depends on efficiency of therapy and portability of drug.

Features of use:

With care gel is appointed to patients with diseases of a liver, kidneys, a digestive tract in the anamnesis, and also to drivers of transport and persons whose work demands exact coordination of movements.

At long treatment by drug it is necessary to check a blood picture (number of leukocytes and thrombocytes).

Depending on a medicine combination (with antibiotics, anticoagulants, antidiabetic means, etc.) it is necessary to exercise the corresponding clinical and laboratory control.

It is not necessary to use drug at children up to 14 years without consultation of the doctor. It is necessary to be careful at simultaneous use of drug with other NPVS.
Medicine should be applied only on the unimpaired sites of skin. To avoid hit of gel in eyes, mucous membranes and open wounds.

Pregnancy and lactation. It is not necessary to apply gel during pregnancy and feeding by a breast.

Side effects:

Local side effects are possible: itch, reddening, rash.

At prolonged use development of resorptive side effects is in some cases possible: dispepsichesky phenomena, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, disorientation.

Emergence of allergic reactions is possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Medicine can exponentiate effect of anticoagulants. GKS and drugs of lithium and also to weaken action of blockers (3 adrenoceptors, captopril, thiazide diuretics and furosemide. The therapeutic effectiveness at use with salicylates decreases, at the same time ulcerogenic action on a mucous membrane of a stomach amplifies.

Contraindications:

- hypersensitivity to indometacin and other NPVS;
- GIT erosive cankers in an aggravation phase;
- disturbances of coagulability of blood of not clear etiology;
- "an aspirinovy triad";
- epilepsy, parkisonizm, mental diseases;
- period of pregnancy and feeding by a breast.

Storage conditions:

To store at a temperature not above +25 °C. To store in the places unavailable to children. Period of validity 2 years. A period of storage after opening of 28 days.
