Gentamitsinovy ointment

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 15 mg of gentamycin in the form of Gentamycini sulfas.

Excipients: paraffin oil solid, white soft paraffin.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. A bactericidal antibiotic of a broad spectrum of activity from group of aminoglycosides. Communicates with 30S in subunit of ribosomes and breaks protein synthesis, interfering with formation of a complex of transport and information RNA. Unlike other antibiotics suppressing protein synthesis, aminoglycosides possess bactericidal action - in big concentration reduce barrier functions of cytoplasmic membranes and cause death of microorganisms.

It is highly effective concerning the bacterial infections of skin caused by Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Proteus vulgaris, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter aerogenes.

Pharmacokinetics. At external use it is practically not soaked up in a system blood stream. From big sites of the surface of the skin injured (a wound, a burn) or covered with granulyatsionny fabric, absorption and penetration into deep layers of skin happens quickly.

Indications to use:

The bacterial infections of skin and soft tissues caused by sensitive microflora - a pyoderma (including gangrenous), a superficial folliculitis, a furunculosis, a sycosis, a paronychia.

Infected: dermatitis (including contact, seborrheal and eczematic), ulcers (including varicose), wounds (including surgical, vyalozazhivayushchy), burns (including plants), stings of insects, abscesses of skin and cyst, "vulgar" eels; secondary bacterial infection at fungal and viral infections of skin.

Route of administration and doses:

Outwardly. Ointment is applied a thin layer on affected areas of skin, after removal of pus and necrotic masses, by 2-3 times a day. At extensive damages of skin the daily dose of ointment should not exceed 200 g that corresponds to 200 mg of gentamycin. Duration is established by the doctor.

Features of use:

At prolonged use resistance development is possible.

When drawing on the big surfaces of skin it is necessary to consider a possibility of resorptive action, especially at patients with HPN.

If within 1 week there is no therapeutic effect, it is necessary to consult with the doctor.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions: local - skin rash, an itch, a dermahemia, burning sensation; seldom generalized - fever, a Quincke's disease, an eosinophilia.

At absorption from extensive surfaces development of system effects is possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Clinically significant interaction with other medicines is improbable, owing to insignificant system absorption.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity (including to other aminoglycosides).

With care. In case of need drawings on the extensive surfaces of skin: neuritis of an acoustical nerve, a myasthenia, parkinsonism, botulism, a renal failure (including a heavy chronic renal failure with an azotemia and uraemia), the neonatality period, prematurity of children, advanced age, pregnancy, the lactation period.

Overdose:

In view of low system absorption at ointment application, the overdose is improbable.

Storage conditions:

At a temperature not over 20 ºС. To store in the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity - 3 years. Not to use after the termination of a period of validity.
