General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent: sodium para-aminosalicylate (p-aminosalicylic acid) of 1 g.




Pharmacological properties:

The antituberculous remedy, represents sodium salt of aminosalicylic acid. Has bacteriostatic action. Shows activity only concerning Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In comparison with other antituberculous remedies has weaker effect. At use as monotherapy to aminosalicylic acid stability quickly develops.

Pharmacokinetics. Absorption is high. At an inflammation of a meninx gets into cerebrospinal fluid in moderate degree. Easily gets through gistogematichesky barriers and it is distributed in fabrics. Is exposed to metabolism. 50% of a dose are defined in urine in the form of acetylized derivative. T1/2 - 30 min. The general clearance depends both on metabolism speed, and on removal by kidneys.


Indications to use:

Treatment of tuberculosis in the absence of a possibility of use of other stronger means.


Route of administration and doses:

Accept inside. For adults the daily dose makes 10-12 g, the frequency of reception of 2-3 times/days. For children - 150-300 mg/kg/days, reception frequency 3-4raza/days.


Features of use:

Aminosalicylic acid and its salts should be applied in a combination with other antituberculous remedies.
With extra care apply at patients with disturbances of functions of kidneys and a liver.
In the presence of aminosalicylates carrying out tests for a glucosuria in which the reagents containing copper are used is broken.


Side effects:

Perhaps: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hypopotassemia.
Seldom: skin reactions, fever, an arthralgia, a lymphadenopathy, a gepatosplenomegaliya, the syndrome similar to an infectious mononucleosis, jaundice, encephalitis, a renal failure, hemolitic anemia at patients with deficit glyukozo-6-fosfatdegidrogenazy, an agranulocytosis, an eosinophilia, a leukopenia, thrombocytopenia.
In isolated cases: psychoses.
At prolonged use in high doses: hypothyroidism, craw.


Interaction with other medicines:

Aminosalicylic acid raises isoniazid T1/2.
Side effects of aminosalicylates and salicylates have the additive character.
Probenetsid can increase toxicity of aminosalicylate by disturbance of its renal excretion and increase in concentration in plasma.


Contraindications:

Renal and/or liver failure, hepatitis, cirrhosis, amyloidosis of internals, peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum, myxedema, epilepsy, pregnancy, hypersensitivity to aminosalicylic acid and its salts.

Use at pregnancy and feeding by a breast
Believe that the aminosalicylates applied in the I trimester of pregnancy can cause inborn defects of a fruit. Aminosalicylic acid in small amounts is emitted with breast milk.

Use at abnormal liver functions
It is contraindicated at a liver failure, hepatitis, cirrhosis. With extra care apply at patients with disturbances of functions of a liver.

Use at renal failures
It is contraindicated at a renal failure. With extra care apply at patients with disturbances of functions of kidneys.
