Nazosprey

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: oxymetazoline a hydrochloride – 0,5 mg.

Excipients: a benzalkoniya chloride – 0,5 mg, boric acid – 17,2 mg, dinatrium of an edetat a dihydrate – 0,1 mg; pyroborate sodium decahydrate – 0,02 mg, the water purified – to 1 ml.

Description: the transparent colourless or slightly painted solution.

Pharmacological properties:

Oxymetazoline – alpha адреностимулятор for topical administration. Has vasoconstrictive effect. At intranasal use reduces hypostasis of a mucous membrane of upper parts of respiratory tracts that leads to simplification of nasal breath and opening of mouths of adnexal bosoms and Eustachian tubes. Effect of drug begins in 10-15 minutes after use and continues during 10-12 h. Pharmacokinetics: At topical administration system absorption low.

Indications to use:

- for simplification of nasal breath at treatment of the acute respiratory diseases which are followed by rhinitis; - allergic rhinitis;

- vasculomotor rhinitis;

- for recovery of a drainage at an inflammation of adnexal bosoms of a nasal cavity, an eustachitis, average otitis;

- for elimination of hypostasis before diagnostic manipulations in a nasal cavity.

Route of administration and doses:

To adults and children 12 years – 2-3 injections in each nasal course at an interval of 10-12 h are more senior. Children are from 6 to 12 years old – on 1 injection in each nasal course 2 times a day. It is not necessary to use drug more often than 2 times a day. For the diagnostic purposes – after cleaning of a nose 3-4 injections or to enter the tampon moistened with drug into each nasal course and to leave for 1-2 min. More than 3 days are not recommended to use drug. At frequent or long use of drug the feeling of difficulty of nasal breath can appear again or worsen. At emergence of these symptoms it is necessary to stop treatment and to see a doctor. At injection it is not recommended to throw back the head back or to spray in situation "lying".

Features of use:

It is not recommended to apply more than 3 days without consultation with the doctor. It is recommended to apply not more often than 2 times a day. Can have resorptive effect. At prolonged use expressiveness of vasoconstrictive action gradually decreases (the tachyphylaxis phenomenon) in this connection, in need of prolonged treatment, it is recommended to take in 5-7 days of use a break for several days. It is necessary to avoid hit of drug in eyes. Influence on ability to control of mechanisms and vehicles: in connection with possible system reactions, such as dizziness, during treatment it is necessary to be careful at control of vehicles and occupations other potentially dangerous types of activity demanding the increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Side effects:

Passing dryness and burning of a mucous membrane of a nasal cavity, dryness of a mucous membrane of an oral cavity and throat, sneezing; increase in arterial pressure, the increased uneasiness, nausea, dizziness, a headache, sleeplessness, heartbeat, sleep disorders. At prolonged use (more than 7 days) – a tachyphylaxis, a reactive hyperemia of a mucous membrane and a mucosal atrophy of a nasal cavity.

Interaction with other medicines:

Slows down absorption of mestnoanesteziruyushchy medicines (extends their action when carrying out surface anesthesia). Combined use of other vasoconstrictive medicines increases risk of development of side effects. At simultaneous use of MAO inhibitors (including the period within 14 days after their cancellation), tricyclic antidepressants and Bromocriptinum – risk of increase in arterial pressure.

Contraindications:

- hypersensitivity to the oxymetazoline or other components which are a part of drug;

- atrophic rhinitis;

- children's age up to 6 years;

- pregnancy;

- lactation period.

Overdose:

Symptoms: tachycardia, increase in arterial pressure, oppression of the central nervous system.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Storage conditions:

To store in the place protected from light at a temperature not above 25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children.

Period of validity: 2 years.

Not to use after the expiry date specified on packaging.
