Folliculitis

Description:

Folliculitis — the form of a superficial pyoderma developing within a hair funnel or all hair follicle.

Folliculitis symptoms:

At a superficial folliculitis pustules (pustules) from 2 to 5 mm in size in the diameter, conical or semi-spherical shape connected with mouths of hair funnels and penetrated usually In the central part by a hair are formed. Pustules are surrounded with a small rose-red inflammatory rim; pain, as a rule, is absent. The deep folliculitis is characterized by emergence on skin of plotnovaty painful small knots of red color up to 10 mm in size with a pustule on a surface which is penetrated by a hair. In several days the pustule is opened or shrinks in a yellow crust.
Multiple folliculites are more often noted at men, is preferential on the sites of skin which are exposed to pressure or friction, for example clothes, a bandage and also on a pilar part of the head.
The professional folliculitis is connected with pollution of skin in operating time with lubricant substances. At the beginning of a disease education in the mouth of follicles of a horn stopper around which the inflammation develops is characteristic. Defeat is localized usually on forearms, the back of brushes.
The folliculitis can be transformed to a furuncle, become complicated limfangiity and lymphadenitis.

Folliculitis reasons:

Is caused by golden, more rare white staphylococcus. In a pathogeny the important role belongs to microtraumas, pollution of skin, and also decrease in the resistance of an organism caused various exogenous (for example, overcooling) and endogenous (a diabetes mellitus, anemia, liver diseases, defective food, etc.) factors.

Treatment of the Folliculitis:

Treatment at a superficial folliculitis consists in opening of pustules, removal by a cotton plug of pus and greasing 2 — 3 times in day of 1 — 2% spirit solution methylene blue or diamond green, fukortsiny. At deep folliculites outwardly apply pure Ichthyolum which is imposed on all element in the form of flat cake, changing it 1 — 2 time a day. At chronic recuring currents of a folliculitis appoint antibiotics or streptocides, and also an immunotherapy. Skin around the defeat centers twice a day is wiped with camphoric Alcohol or 2% solution of salicylic acid. The area of defeat to full permission of pathological process should not be washed with water and to impose on it compresses. For prevention of a recurrence after full subsiding of inflammatory process such wipings, including area of the former defeat, continue within several days. In order to avoid development of complications it is not necessary to squeeze the center of defeat or to try to squeeze out its contents that can entail development of a furuncle and even phlegmon.
