Description:
Dermatitis of area of buttocks, generative organs, lower part of a stomach or femoral fold at the baby is called an intertrigo. The periblast of an integument is the peculiar barrier interfering penetration of an infection. At disturbance of this barrier the intertrigo develops. The intertrigo can develop as when using diapers, and diapers.
Intertrigo reasons:
The diaper dermatitis develops as a result of long contact with irritants, such as humidity, chemicals and friction. Urine and fecal bacteria irritate sensitive skin of the child. Can quickly lead attacks of diarrhea to rash at many children. The intertrigo begins with an erythema in perianal area. In the absence of treatment, the disease progresses, spots and papules, and then erosion and crusts are formed. Children up to 6 months, and also the children who are accepting antibiotics or having have the increased risk of accession of a fungal infection to an intertrigo.
Intertrigo most often arises aged up to 3 years. They occur approximately at 10% of babies and are the most widespread aged from seven up to nine months. Some babies have predisposition to formation of an intertrigo. These children have such sensitive skin that an intertrigo is a problem from the first days of life.
Intertrigo symptoms:
At untimely change of a diaper of kcal and urine is in close contact with the child's skin that causes her irritation. At the same time natural skin fat is washed away, the periblast of skin is damaged and the risk of accession of a bacterial or fungal infection increases.
Often the irritation of skin is caused by friction of a diaper or a diaper with skin. Such rash is located at the edges of a diaper, but not pleated skin. At the same time the general condition of the child does not suffer.
Chemicals in detergents also promote dermatitis in the form of an intertrigo. These rashes disappear at refusal of detergents. The started state quite often is followed by an infection, causing heavier forecast for the child.
Consultation of the doctor is necessary if:
- rash is followed by fever;
- rash is followed by an infection what emergence of spots, blisters, abscesses, ulcers, yellow crusts testifies to;
- bright red rashes, peeling of elements of rash or bleeding;
- rash extended out of borders of the area of diapers;
- rash is followed by the expressed morbidity;
- treatment does not yield a positive take at home.
Treatment of the Intertrigo:
At accession of a bacterial infection to an intertrigo appoint antibiotics, the fungal infection demands purpose of anti-mycotic ointments. If topical treatment is not effective, appoint peroral antifungal drugs. Treatment of candidiasis as a result of use of diapers at babies has to include peroral drops for treatment of any candidiases in an oral cavity and intestines to avoid repeated infection.
Steroid creams, such as 0,5 - 1% hydrocortisone cream, can be used for treatment of seborrheal dermatitis and an intertrigo. The intertrigo can treat by means of a combination of a hydrocortisone and antifungal ointments.
Respect for personal hygiene prevents development of an intertrigo.
