Dekapeptil

Dekapeptil – antineoplastic drug.

Form of release and structure

Dekapeptil release in the form of solution for hypodermic introduction: transparent, colourless, without mechanical impurity and a smell (on 1 ml in syringes ampoules, on 7 syringes in blister strip packagings complete with syringe needles, on 1 packaging in a cardboard pack).

Is a part of 1 ml of solution:

• Active agent: acetate of a triptorelin – 0,105 or 0,525 mg (respectively трипторелин – 0,0956 or 0,4781 mg);
• Auxiliary components: sodium chloride, glacial acetic acid, water for injections.

Indications to use

• Women: endometriosis, a hysteromyoma, infertility (at treatment using auxiliary reproductive technologies, including EKO and transfer of an embryo);
• Men: the progressing hormonedependent carcinoma of a prostate (symptomatic therapy).

Contraindications

• The previous surgical castration (for men);
• Hormonal independent carcinoma of a prostate (for men);
• Risk of emergence or clinical displays of osteoporosis (for women);
• Pregnancy and period of a lactation;
• Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Dekapeptil it is necessary to apply with care at implementation of the program of auxiliary reproductive technologies (EKO) at women with a polycystosis of ovaries when the number of follicles defined by means of ultrasonography more than 10.

Route of administration and dosage

Dekapeptil enter subcutaneously.

To women at treatment of infertility by EKO method, as a rule, enter 0,1 mg of solution. Drug is appointed on one of protocols:

• Short protocol: in the first day of a menstrual cycle or early follicular phase until introduction of a chorionic gonadotrophin (chHG);
• Ultrashort protocol: from the first day of a menstrual cycle or an early follicular phase for 3 days.

At treatment of a hysteromyoma, endometriosis, a prostate carcinoma at the beginning of a course for 7 days enter 0,5 mg (1 injection) of Dekapeptil once a day. For maintenance of therapeutic effect since 8th day it is necessary to enter daily 0,1 mg of drug, changing the place of an injection.

It is recommended to apply Dekapeptil-depot to long therapy.

Side effects

The side effects arising during therapy are caused by lowering of the level of sex hormones in blood at men and women and can lead to development of lability of mood, a depression, easing to a libido, sleep disorders, frequent headaches, inflows, increase in body weight, the increased perspiration.

Besides, at Dekapeptil's use the following disturbances can develop:

• Central and peripheral nervous system: vision disorders, paresthesias;
• Musculoskeletal system: pains in a back, the compressions of a spinal cord, ostealgias caused by metastasises, muscular weakness, arthralgias, mialgiya, demineralization of bones (at long therapy);
• Alimentary system: hypercholesterolemia, loss of appetite, nausea, increase in activity of hepatic transaminases;
• Urinogenital system: pains during sexual intercourse, obstruction of uric ways; men have a gynecomastia, decrease in a potentiality, reduction of the sizes of testicles; women have uterine bleedings, dryness of a vagina;
• Local reactions: seldom – pain in Dekapeptil injection site;
• Allergic reactions: erubescence, itch, fever, anaphylaxis;
• Others: increase in lymph nodes, hypostases of legs, thrombophlebitis; men have a reduction of growth of a beard and loss of hair on a breast, legs and hands.

All above described side effects after the termination of a course of treatment take place independently.

Special instructions

Dekapeptil it is necessary to apply, controlling the level of sex hormones in a blood plasma.

Before purpose of drug women need to exclude possible pregnancy. Use of hormonal contraceptives during therapy is inadmissible. Also it is impossible to use drugs with the content of estrogen.

At treatment of endometriosis or a hysteromyoma drug is used to a complete recovery of a menstrual cycle. During a course it is necessary to control the sizes of endometriozny nodes and myoma by means of ultrasonography. Bystry reduction of the sizes of a uterus can lead to developing of bleeding.

During a course of therapy of periods are absent. At regular periods at Dekapeptil's use it is necessary to consult at the doctor.

Tranzitorny increase in level of testosterone in plasma can cause the temporary aggravation of symptoms which is shown in the form of obstruction of uric ways, the ostealgias caused by metastasises, symptoms of a compression of a spinal cord, muscular weakness, puffiness of legs, a hyperadenosis in some men. At emergence of one of these disturbances it is necessary to consult with the doctor.

At an initial stage of therapy it is necessary to consider expediency of use of anti-androgenic drug for suppression of the symptoms connected with increase in level of testosterone.

Medicinal interaction

Data on Dekapeptil's interaction with other medicines are absent.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in protected from light (in the closed packaging), the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature of 2-8 °C.

Period of validity – 3 years.
