Kirin

Антибиотик КиринKirin – the antibiotic drug used at treatment of urogenital gonorrhea.

Form of release and structure

Kirin release in the form of powder for preparation of suspension for intramuscular introduction: from almost white till white color (on 2 g in glass bottles, on 1 bottle in a cardboard pack complete with solvent in ampoules from dark glass).

Active agent is a part of 1 bottle: спектиномицин – 2 g (in the form of a pentahydrate hydrochloride).

Solvent: bacteriostatic water for injections from 0,9% benzyl alcohol – 3,2 ml.

Indications to use

Kirin appoint for treatment of urogenital gonorrhea at women and men.

Contraindications

Contraindication to Kirin's use is hypersensitivity to drug components.

Pregnant women can carry out therapy only when the potential advantage for health of mother is higher than possible risk for a fruit. Women in the period of a lactation at purpose of drug need to interrupt breastfeeding.

Route of administration and dosage

Kirin apply intramusculary.

Adult appoint 2 g of drug (5 ml of suspension). In case of need the dose is increased twice.

Suspension is entered into an upper outside quadrant of a buttock deeply intramusculary. The dose can be divided into 2 injections.

Correction of doses for patients of advanced age is not required.

Due to the lack of enough data Kirin's use for children is not recommended. There are data that the dose of 40 mg/kg of body weight is effective for children of 2 years. In case of lack of other effective treatment Kirin it is possible to apply in this dose.

There are no data on efficiency and safety use of drug for children under 2 years.

For preparation of suspension for contents of a bottle it is necessary to add 1 ampoule of solvent (3,2 ml of sterile water for injections) and to mix immediately. The received suspension (volume – 5 ml) has concentration of 400 mg/ml. The prepared suspension needs to be entered right after preparation, drug is not subject to storage.

Side effects

During Kirin's use the following side effects can develop:

  • Alimentary system: cholestatic jaundice, nausea, increase in level of an alkaline phosphatase;
  • Urinary system: decrease in a diuresis which is not followed by a renal failure; in some cases – a hamaturia; at long use – increase in level of urea in blood, decrease in clearance of creatinine;
  • Central nervous system: sleeplessness, dizziness;
  • Laboratory indicators: at long use – decrease in a hematocrit, level glyutaminovy pyruvate-transaminases and hemoglobin in serum;
  • Allergic reactions: seldom – anaphylactic reactions, urticaria, skin rash (spotty erythematic, sometimes passing in pruritic generalized);
  • Local reactions: morbidity and consolidation in the place of an injection.

Special instructions

Kirin's appointment the patient with functional disturbances of kidneys perhaps only at inefficiency of use of other medicines.

It is not necessary to appoint Kirin in 24 hours prior to dialysis session as its efficiency can be reduced (due to decrease in concentration in serum).

Kirin's use can mask symptoms of syphilis therefore within 4-6 weeks patients have to undergo inspection on its existence. At suspicion of syphilis serological testing needs to be held within, at least, 4 months.

When performing therapy it is necessary to consider a possibility of development of resistance of Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It occurs in rare instances, however, despite it, it is necessary to watch clinical performance of Kirin to reveal any symptoms of development of resistance.

Medicinal interaction

Kirin lowers clearance of lithium, increasing thereby toxicity and effect of lithium to clinically expressed degree (at simultaneous use it is necessary to carry out strict monitoring of symptoms of toxicity of lithium and its level to blood).

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the place, dry, unavailable to children, at a temperature up to 30 °C.

Period of validity – 5 years.

The prepared suspension is not subject to storage.
