Neo-penotran

Neo-penotran – the local combined drug with antibacterial, antifungal and antiprotozoan action applied in gynecology.

Form of release and structure

Neo-penotran release in the form of suppositories vaginal: a flat body with the rounded-off end, almost white or white color (on 7 pieces in plastic blisters, on 1 or 2 blisters in a cardboard pack complete with fingerstalls).

Active agents are a part of 1 suppository:

• Metronidazole – 500 mg;
• Miconazolum nitrate – 100 mg.

Auxiliary component: витепсол S55 – 1900 mg.

Indications to use

Neo-penotran appoint for topical treatment of the following diseases:

• Vaginal candidiases;
• The bacterial vaginosis which is also caused by a nonspecific vaginitis, a gardnerellezny vaginitis or an anaerobic vaginosis;
• Mecotic vulvovaginitis;
• The mixed vaginal infections.

Contraindications

• Heavy functional disturbances of a liver (including a porphyria);
• Disturbances of a hemogenesis;
• Diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system;
• Virginity;
• Age up to 14 years;
• I trimester of pregnancy;
• Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Use of Neo-penotrana in the II-III trimesters of pregnancy is possible only if the estimated advantage for health of mother is higher than potential risk for a fruit.

In the period of a lactation for the period of therapy breastfeeding needs to be interrupted. Resuming of feeding is possible in 24-48 hours after the end of therapy.

Route of administration and dosage

Vaginal suppositories need to be entered deeply into a vagina, using for this purpose the one-time fingerstalls which are contained in packaging.

Neo-penotran appoint 2 suppositories a day (to night and in the morning). Therapy duration – 7 days. At recurrent vaginita or vaginita, resistant to the treatment which is carried out earlier, according to the same scheme drug is used for 14 days.

At purpose of Neo-penotrana change of the mode of dosing is not required to elderly patients (65 years are more senior).

Side effects

• Central and peripheral nervous system: in some cases – a headache, dizziness, psychoemotional disturbances, spasms, an ataxy, a peripheral neuropathy (at long therapy);
• Alimentary system: metal smack in a mouth, abdominal pains of skhvatkoobrazny character; in some cases – dryness in a mouth, diarrhea, a lock, nausea, appetite loss, vomiting;
• Hemopoietic system: in some cases – a leukopenia;
• Allergic reactions: in some cases – urticaria, skin rash;
• Local reactions: burning, irritation and itch of a mucous membrane of a vagina. The irritation can amplify at the beginning of therapy (after administration of the first suppository) or by third day of treatment that is connected with an inflammation of a mucous membrane of a vagina at a vaginitis. After the therapy termination these disturbances quickly take place. At the expressed irritation use of Neo-penotrana needs to be interrupted.

Special instructions

Influence of Neo-penotrana on glycemia level (is possible when determining content of glucose in blood by a hexokinase method), and also on activity of liver enzymes in blood.

At simultaneous use of Neo-penotrana with a contraceptive diaphragm or condom interaction of a basis of vaginal suppository and rubber can be observed.

At trichomoniasis it is reasonable to carry out simultaneous treatment of the sexual partner.

Medicinal interaction

At simultaneous use of Neo-penotrana with some medicines there can be following effects:

• Ethanol: emergence of disulfiramopodobny reactions;
• Disulfiramum: development of disturbances from the central nervous system (in the form of mental reactions);
• Cimetidinum: increase in level of metronidazole in blood and, therefore, strengthening of risk of development of neurologic side effects;
• Indirect anticoagulants: strengthening of their action;
• Lithium drugs: increase in toxicity of lithium;
• Phenytoinum: increase in its level in blood at simultaneous decrease in level of metronidazole;
• Astemizol, терфенадин: increase in their concentration in a blood plasma;
• Phenobarbital: decrease in level of metronidazole in blood;
• Theophylline, procaineamide: change of their concentration in a blood plasma.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature up to 25 °C.

Period of validity – 3 years.
