Valocordin

Valocordin – the combined drug with sedative, somnolent and spasmolytic action.

Form of release and structure

Valocordin is produced in the form of drops for intake (transparent colourless liquid with a fragrant smell), on 20 ml and 50 ml in dark glass bottles droppers, on 1 bottle in a cardboard pack.

Active agents are a part of 1 ml of drops:

• Etilbromizovalerianat – 18,4 mg;
• Phenobarbital – 18,4 mg.

The auxiliary components which are a part of drug: hop oil – 0,18 mg; mint oil – 1,29 mg; 96% ethanol – 469,75 mg; the purified water – 411,97 mg.

Indications to use

Valocordin is appointed at the following diseases / states:

• Functional frustration of cardiovascular system, including a cardialgia and sinus tachycardia;
• Sleeplessness (the complicated backfilling);
• The neurosises which are followed by concern, irritability and fear;
• Condition of excitement with the expressed vegetative reactions.

Contraindications

Contraindications to use of Valocordin are:

• The expressed abnormal liver functions and/or kidneys;
• Pregnancy and period of a lactation;
• Children's age up to 18 years;
• Hypersensitivity to drug components.

With care of a drop apply at craniocereberal injuries, liver diseases, alcoholism, brain diseases (because of the ethanol which is a part of drug).

Route of administration and dosage

Valocordin is accepted inside with a small amount of liquid to food.

The doctor establishes a dosage and duration of use individually.

Appoint usually adult 3 times a day till 15-20 of drops. At disturbances of backfilling increase in a dose up to 30 drops is possible.

To children, taking into account a clinical picture of a disease, on average appoint on 1 drop to a year of life.

Side effects

Valocordin even at prolonged use, as a rule, is well transferred. Sometimes in the afternoon slight dizziness and drowsiness can be observed.

Prolonged use of high doses can lead to development of the chronic poisoning with bromine which is shown as:

• Rhinitis;
• Lack of coordination of movements;
• Depressive mood;
• Conjunctivitis;
• Apathy;
• Hemorrhagic diathesis.

In some cases at hypersensitivity development of skin reactions is possible.

At emergence of any uncharacteristic effects which are not specified in the instruction it is necessary to see the attending physician.

At overdose can arise:

• Slight and medium-weight intoxication – dizziness, drowsiness, psychomotor disturbances;
• Hard cases – tachycardia, a vascular collapse, a coma, breath disturbance, a lowering of arterial pressure, decrease in peripheral reflexes.

For treatment the gastric lavage and reception of absorbent carbon is shown. At emergence of symptoms of overdose it is recommended to see a doctor urgently.

Special instructions

In need of purpose of Valocordin during a lactation breastfeeding needs to be stopped.

Because of the phenobarbital rendering somnolent effect and ethanol which 30 drops (the maximum single dose) contain 469 mg drug can weaken ability of the patient to react quickly in certain situations, for example, at service of cars or during stay on the street. Especially strongly it is expressed at a concomitant use with alcohol.

In case of long use of Valocordin perhaps:

• Development of medicinal dependence;
• Accumulation in a bromine organism with the subsequent poisoning.

Medicinal interaction

At a concomitant use of Valocordin with sedative drugs strengthening of effect is observed.

Combined use with tranquilizers and neuroleptics strengthens, and with stimulators of the central nervous system – weakens action of each of drug components.

Alcohol can increase toxicity of Valocordin and strengthens its effect.

The phenobarbital which is contained in drug is capable to induce microsomal enzymes of a liver. Thereof its simultaneous use with the medicines which are metabolized in a liver since their concentration, and respectively and efficiency, as a result of more accelerated metabolism will decrease (antibiotics, indirect anticoagulants, streptocides) is undesirable.

Also phenobarbital weakens effect of griseofulvin, glucocorticosteroids, derivatives of coumarin and peroral contraceptive means.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in protected from light, the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature of 15-25 °C.

Period of validity – 5 years.
