Beclomethasone

Beclomethasone represents hormonal drug (glucocorticosteroid) intended for inhalation use for the purpose of impact on a mucous membrane of respiratory bodies; one of means of a basic course of treatment of bronchial asthma.

Form of release and structure

Active active ingredient – beclomethasone Dipropionas. Its existence causes antiinflammatory, anti-exudative, antiedematous and antiallergenic properties of medicine.

Is issued in the form of an aerosol for inhalations dosed (on 200 doses in aluminum aerosol barrels with system of spraying, 1 barrel in a cardboard pack).

Content of active agent in 1 dose – 50 mkg or 250 mkg.

Indications to use

Effect of Beclomethasone is directed to reduction of hypostasis of an epithelium, slime secretion by bronchial glands, regional accumulation of neutrophils, hyperreactivity of bronchial tubes, inflammatory exudate (liquid in the place of an inflammation).

Beclomethasone is appointed:

• Bronchial asthma (inhalation use);
• Prevention and treatment of allergic rhinitis, including vasculomotor and rhinitis at hay fever (intranasal use);
• Infectious and inflammatory diseases of an ear and skin (outside and local) – in a combination with antimicrobic means.

Contraindications

• Bronchitis of not asthmatic nature, acute bronchospasm;
• Frequent nasal bleedings, hemorrhagic diathesis;
• System infections, including a pulmonary tuberculosis, ORZ, herpetic damage of eyes.

Drug is contraindicated to children up to 6 years and to women in the I trimester of pregnancy.

Route of administration and dosage

Inhalation use:

• Adults – on 500 mkg 2 times a day or on 250 mkg 4 times a day, the daily dose should not exceed 1000 mkg (2000 mkg are allowed only in very hard cases, at the same time the daily dose is divided into 4 receptions);
• Children of 6 years – on 50-100 mkg from 2 to 4 times a day.

Intranasal introduction:

• Adults and children are more senior than 12 years – on 100 mkg 3-4 times a day in each nasal pass, without exceeding a daily dose in 1000 mkg;
• Children of 6-12 years – on 50 mkg in each nasal pass (no more than 500 mkg a day) with the same frequency rate of receptions, as adults.

More exact mode of dosing and duration of treatment are defined by the doctor.

Side effects

Beclomethasone spray can be the cause of undesirable reactions of an organism, in particular, such as:

• Sneezing, cough, irritation in a throat, a dysphonia, is rare – a paradoxical bronchospasm (is eliminated with inhalation bronchial spasmolytics), eosinophilic pneumonia;
• Candidiasis of upper respiratory tracts and oral cavity;
• Dizziness, headaches, increase in intraocular pressure, cataract, lymphopenia, eosinopenia, leukocytosis – at prolonged use in high doses;
• Nasal bleeding, rhinitis, perforation of a nasal partition, mucosal atrophy – at intranasal use;
• Dysfunction гипоталамо - pituitary and adrenal system – at one-time use more than 1000 mkg of beclomethasone of Dipropionas;
• Allergic reactions.

Special instructions

To women in II and III trimesters of pregnancy, and also to nursing mothers expediency of use of Beclomethasone is defined by the doctor. On condition of administration of drug during a lactation breastfeeding should be stopped.

Care is required at intranasal use of spray by persons with expressions of a nasal partition, glaucoma, an amebiasis, a hypothyroidism, a heavy renal failure.

Recently postponed myocardial infarction, the operations of a nasal cavity and an injury of a nose performed in recent times are a reason for Beclomethasone use restriction.

Terms and storage conditions

To store at a temperature not above 30 °C.

Period of validity – 3 years, after spray opening it is necessary to use contents within 6 months.
