Izoprinozin

Izoprinozin – the complex synthetic immunostimulating and antiviral drug used for treatment of the diseases caused by gerpevirusa.

It is widely applied in pediatrics to increase in immunity at chronic and long viral diseases.

Pharmacological action

Active ingredient of Izoprinozin possesses antiviral action and the immunostimulating activity. Reduces clinical displays of viral diseases and blocks reproduction of various viruses.

Also Izoprinozin promotes acceleration of recovery and increase in body resistance to various gerpevirusa (Epstein-Barre, Varitsella-Zoster), to viruses of measles, parotitis and others. At appointment with other antiviral drugs (a zidovudine and an acyclovir) strengthens effect of interferon.

According to Izoprinozin it is usually well transferred and it is allowed for use in pediatrics.

Release form

Izoprinozin release in the form of white biconvex oblong tablets with an amine smell. Each tablet contains 500 mg of active ingredient of inosine пранобекс. Excipients – starch wheat, Mannitolum, magnesium stearate, povidone. On 10 tablets in the blister, on 2, 3, 5 blisters in a cardboard pack.

In the same doses release also Izoprinozin's analogs.

Indications to Izoprinozin's use

According to the instruction Izoprinozin is appointed both with weakened, and with normal immune system at:

• The infectious mononucleosis caused by Epstein-Burra's virus;
• Infektsiiyakh, 1-4 types (labial and genital herpes, a herpetic keratitis) caused by the Herpes simplex virus;
• Measles;
• Viral bronchitis;
• Human papillomavirus infection, including papillomas of phonatory bands and a throat of fibrous type, a wart, a human papillomavirus infection of genitalias at men and women;
• Horse encephalitis;
• Cytomegaloviral infection;
• Shingles;
• Flu and long SARS;
• Acute and chronic viral hepatitis In and With;
• To chicken pox;
• Chronic infectious diseases of respiratory and urinary systems;
• Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis;
• Contagious mollusk.

Also Izoprinozin is rather effective at immunodeficiency, and is appointed during recovery after the postponed serious illness and at stressful situations for prevention of infectious diseases.

Contraindications

Izoprinozin according to the instruction is contraindicated at:

• Urolithiasis;
• Arrhythmias;
• Chronic renal failure;
• To gout;
• Hypersensitivity to Izoprinozin's components;
• Drug is not appointed to children up to 3 years (or at body weight less than 15 kg).

Application instruction of Izoprinozin

Izoprinozin accept inside, after food, wash down with a small amount of water.

Izoprinozin's dose according to the instruction is calculated equally for adults and children – 50 mg on 1 kg of body weight a day. The dose can be divided into 3-4 receptions. Individually the dose can be increased twice at severe forms of infectious diseases, at the same time it is necessary to divide it into 4-6 receptions. The maximum daily dose of Izoprinozin for children makes 50 mg on 1 kg of weight, and adult – 3-4 g a day.

Duration of treatment depends on character and the course of a disease:

• At acute diseases at children and adults duration makes from 5 to 14 days. Treatment has to include disappearance of clinical symptoms, and is continued within two days;
• At chronic (recurrent) diseases treatment is appointed several courses for 5-10 days. The break between courses makes 8 days;
• At a maintenance therapy it is possible to apply a maintenance dose – 0,5-1 g a day for a month.

At a herpes infection Izoprinozin to children and adults appoint within 5-10 days before total disappearance of symptoms. Then within a month carry out a maintenance therapy for reduction of number of a recurrence on 1 tablet twice a day.

The adult at a human papillomavirus infection drug is appointed on 2 tablets by 3 times a day. Izoprinozin's dose for children makes 1/2 tablets on 5 kg of body weight a day for 14-28 days. The same dose is appointed at recurrent sharp-pointed condylomas as monotherapy or with surgical treatment. Further at an interval of a month the course is repeated three times.

At a dysplasia of the neck of uterus associated with a virus of papilloma of the person 3 times a day take 2 pill for 10 days then they appoint 2-3 more courses at an interval of two weeks.

Side effects

Izoprinozin – rather safe drug used in world medical practice since 1970.

According to reviews Izoprinozin is had well by adults and children. There can sometimes be an itch, a joint pain, a headache, a polyuria, dizziness, nausea, weakness, drowsiness or sleeplessness, an exacerbation of gout.

Sometimes according to Izoprinozin as side effect causes toxic hepatitis and complications on kidneys in children. Therefore it is recommended to carry out control of content of uric acid in blood serum and in urine after two weeks of use of drug, and also in a month since the beginning of reception to carry out control of function of a liver and kidneys. Such control needs to be carried out also at use of a combination therapy with the drugs increasing the level of uric acid and breaking function of kidneys.

It is necessary to consider that at simultaneous use with immunodepressants Izoprinozin's efficiency can decrease. It is not necessary to accept drug together with immunodepressants.

Izoprinozin's use at pregnancy and during breastfeeding is not recommended because of insufficiency of clinical trials.

The closest on chemical composition and therapeutic effect Izoprinozin's analogs – Groprinosin and Inozin пранобекс. These drugs contain active ingredient and dosages too. Distinction of trade names depends on manufacturers of medicines. These analogs of Izoprinozin can replace drug if necessary completely.
