Etaperazin

Etaperazin – the antipsychotic means making impact, preferential on the central nervous system.

Dosage form of Etaperazin – a tablet, coated. 1 tablet of medicine contains 4,6 and 10 mg of Perfenazinum.

Pharmacological action of Etaperazin

Drug is a neuroleptic – the antipsychotic means rendering antiallergic, sedative, myorelaxation, antiemetic, weak anticholinergic, hypotensive, antiemetic and hypothermal actions. Etaperazin's efficiency is caused by blockade of D2 receptors of mesocortical and mesolimbic systems.

According to the instruction Etaperazin makes the braking (sedative) impact on a nervous system due to blockade of adrenoceptors of a reticular formation of a trunk of a brain, without causing somnolent effect (in usual dosages).

Antiemetic effect of drug is caused by blockade of dopamine receptors of a trigger zone of the emetic center. The hypothermal effect of Etaperazin is reached thanks to blockade of D2 receptors of a hypothalamus.

Responses to Etaperazin contain information on more broad spectrum of activity of drug in comparison with aminazine: Etaperazin acts more actively than this means, however, concedes to it on adrenolytic and hypothermal actions, and also on the ability to strengthen influence narcotic and medicines.

The expressed antipsychotic effect of drug develops in 3-7 days after the beginning of its reception and reaches the maximum 2-6 months of continuous use later.

Indications to Etaperazin's use

According to the instruction Etaperazin is used for treatment of mental diseases (such as exogenous and organic and senile psychoses with the hallucinatory phenomena, schizophrenia, a psychopathia, a skin itch, a hiccups). Judging by responses to Etaperazin, drug is successfully used at pernicious vomiting at pregnant women.

Side effects

In certain cases drug can cause extrapyramidal frustration (trembling, a lack of coordination of movements, reduction of their volume), drowsiness, a sight illegibility, an akathisia, vegetative disturbances, slackness, a depression, block of consciousness, decrease in motivational activity. From cardiovascular system disturbances of a cordial rhythm, tachycardia, the expressed changes on an ECG are possible a lowering of arterial pressure. From a GIT according to reviews to Etaperazin such side effects as an atony of a bladder and intestines, an abdominal pain, a loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting are noted.

Carry contact dermatitis, skin rash, a photosensitization, a Quincke's disease to allergic reactions of drug.

The side effects of Etaperazin connected with anticholinergic effect of drug: accommodation disturbances, dryness in a mouth, difficulty of an urination, a lock.

Contraindications

Etaperazin's use is forbidden at an endocarditis – the disease connected with an inflammation of internal cardial cavities, serious cardiovascular illnesses (arterial hypotension, dekompensirovanny chronic heart failure), the progressing diseases back and a brain, the expressed oppression of function of the central nervous system, comas of any origin.

With care Etaperazin at the following phenomena is recommended to apply:

• Pathological changes of system of a hemopoiesis;
• Alcoholism;
• Breast cancer;
• To closed-angle glaucoma;
• Peptic ulcer of a stomach and 12-perstny gut;
• Renal or liver failure;
• Prostate hyperplasia;
• Parkinson's diseases;
• Syndrome to Reja;
• Cachexias;
• To the vomiting connected with overdose by other medicines;
• Advanced age.

Dosage and route of administration of Etaperazin

Administration of drug is carried out inside, after food.

At psychotic frustration at the patients who are not applying earlier antipsychotic medicines, Etaperazin's dosage according to the instruction makes 4-16 mg of drug 2-4 times a day. Existence of a chronic disease causes increase in a dosage up to 64 mg/days. Treatment duration in this case makes of 1-4 months.

At overdose by Etaperazin emergence of antipsychotic reactions, for example, fervescence is observed. In hard cases disturbance of consciousness in various forms can be shown, up to a coma. Overdose treatment by drug is performed by means of intravenous administration of solution of a dextrose, diazepam, nootropic medicines, vitamins of group C and B, and also symptomatic therapy.

Special instructions

As it is specified in the instruction to Etaperazin at suspicion intestinal impassability and a tumor of a brain use of drug is inexpedient – as vomiting can disguise symptoms of poisoning and complicate carrying out diagnosis.

In the course of treatment by Etaperazin it is recommended to exercise regular control of work of a liver and kidneys, a prothrombin index, peripheral blood, and also to be careful at control of vehicles and occupations the types of activity demanding speed of reaction and the increased concentration of attention.

In responses to Etaperazin it is mentioned need of avoiding of contact of skin with a liquid form of medicine – for the purpose of the prevention of possible emergence of contact dermatitis.

Drug is stored at a temperature not above 20 degrees Celsius in the dark place unavailable to children. The period of validity of Etaperazin at observance of these conditions makes 3 years. Use of medicine over the specified period of validity is forbidden.
