Kaffetin

Kaffetin – an analgetic antipyretic with the combined structure.

Form of release and structure

Dosage form – tablets: a round flat form, with a facet, have white color and an engraving on each of the parties, on one – a sign of Alkaloid, on another – a text of "Caffetin" (on 10 pieces in strips, in a cardboard pack 1 strip).

Content of active ingredients is to 1 tablet:

• Codeini phosphas sexivihydrat – 10 mg;
• Paracetamol – 250 mg;
• Caffeine – 50 mg;
• Propyphenazone – 210 mg.

Auxiliary components: sodium lauryl sulfate, magnesium stearate, starch sodium glycollate, povidone, silicon dioxide colloid anhydrous, calcium dihydrophosphate, cellulose microcrystallic, glyceryl бегенат, sodium of a kroskarmelloz.

Indications to use

Kaffetin's use is shown for stopping of a moderate pain syndrome of various etiology:

• Algodismenorey;
• Dentagra;
• Neuralgia;
• Arthralgia;
• Mialgiya;
• Migraine;
• Headache;
• Posttraumatic states.

Contraindications

• The stenocardia caused by atherosclerosis of coronary arteries;
• Hemopoiesis disturbances;
• Leukopenia;
• Liver failure;
• Deficit glyukozo-6-fosfatdegidrogenazy;
• Renal failure;
• Hyperexcitability;
• Sleeplessness;
• Age up to 7 years;
• Period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
• Hypersensitivity to drug components.

With caution Kaffetin the patient with glaucoma and to patients of advanced age is recommended to take.

Route of administration and dosage

The dose of drug and the period of treatment are appointed by the doctor on the basis of clinical indications.

The recommended dosing has age restrictions:

• Adults – on 1 tablet 3-4 times a day, at pains of strong expressiveness are allowed a concomitant use of 2 tablets, a daily dose – no more than 6 tablets;
• Children are more senior than 7 years – on 1/4-1/2 tablets 1-4 times a day.

The treatment period – up to 5 days.

Side effects

Kaffetin's use can cause side effects:

• From the alimentary system: nausea, increase in activity of liver enzymes, gastralgia;
• From a nervous system: reduction in the rate of psychomotor reactions, a hyperexcitability (especially at children);
• From system of a hemopoiesis: agranulocytosis, leukopenia;
• Allergic reactions: itch, skin rash, Quincke's edema, small tortoiseshell.

Special instructions

Prolonged use of drug is recommended to be carried out under regular control of a functional condition of a liver and peripheral blood.

During treatment it is impossible to take alcohol as it can cause gastrointestinal bleeding.

Against the background of therapy the excessive use of the drinks containing caffeine (tea, coffee) can make sick, tachycardia, a ring in ears and other symptoms of overdose of drug.

Effect of drug can distort results of a drug test at athletes, cause difficulty when determining the diagnosis in patients with an acute abdominal pain syndrome.

Patients with a pollinosis and bronchial asthma are most subject to risk of development of reaction of hypersensitivity.

During use of drug it is recommended to refrain from control of vehicles, mechanisms and occupation other types of activity which performance demands the high speed of psychomotor reactions and concentration of attention.

Medicinal interaction

At Kaffetin's interaction with ethanol, antiepileptic drugs, a zidovudine, barbiturates and rifampicin the probability of a hepatotoxic therefore it is not recommended to use drug in these combinations increases.

At simultaneous use of drug with other medicines it is necessary to consider its combined structure.

Caffeine, one of the operating components of tablets, accelerates ergotamine absorption, codeine – strengthens action of analgetics, hypnotic drugs and sedatives.

Paracetamol – delay of removal of chloramphenicol by 5 times, increase in activity of anticoagulants of indirect action (Dicumarinum derivatives) in case of repeated administration of drug is possible.

Absorption of paracetamol accelerates at a combination to Metoclopramidum.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the protected from light, dry place at a temperature from 15 to 25 °C. To protect from children.

Period of validity – 3 years.
